Today's Moscow's birthday, that's why i decided to create a new thread exactly today.

I was in Gorky Park. Now it's renovating, and it is going to be similar to parks in the West(such as Hyde Park, Central Park in NYC)

Big thanks to new mayor Sobyanin who comitted those changes

levaniX, good set of pics, indeed, but let me tell you the following - at least twice you have written "like in the West" discribing the places you presented here - there is a misunderstanding that it is possible to make a country to look "like in the west" just by simple decigion - it is wrong - the looks of western cities are results of high level of economic development of those western countries (for example Japan or s.Korea are not in the west, but their cities look western) - In Russia GDP per capita (that is level of economy or economic production amount per one person) is approximatelly the same as in Mexico or Brazil ,but not like in western Europe or North America - many people don't realise those figures and so continue to compare Russia to West Europe or USA or Canada - it is wrong - to look western and so to get rid of dilapedated commiblocks, worndown houses or poor infrastructure Russia need to get the same development of economy as in the west, not that it can be done by simple decigion of authorities - many people both in the west and in Russia don't understand that and demand from the Russian Government to make Rusia like the west immidiatelly and asking - why our wages are 3 times lower then in USA, why quolity of our appartment blocks are worse then in France, why this or that etc...I allways say: " if you want to judge efficiency of Government - compare your country in its economical weight category - that is Russia should be compared to Brazil and Mexico, not to those places you call the "WEST" (that is USA, West Europe, Japan etc.)"...Parts of biggest Russian cities (Moscow, St.Petersburg, Sochi and maybe couple of more) look like in the "west", but to make the whole country look like "the west" it is required to make economy at least 3-4 times more efficient - then there will be money to improve infrastructure that currently is maintained poorly and to start to resemble "the west"...

I know how terrible situation is in whole Russia.
Because Moscow and Russia are 2 different things, dont you understand that?

it is international thread- nobody here knows who is Sobyanin and what has he commited and not much is it interested for non-Russians - such matters should be discussed on Russian forum where people know what was before Sobyanin, what is now, who is Sobynin etc...Here is "urban showcase" and so people judje photos "as they are" here and now - there are specialised threads in Russian section about knews of Moscow legislation, construction, innovations etc...

Господи, боже мой! Ну не надо думать однобоко! Я имел в виду что все эти изменения которые собянин затеял, приближают город на уровень нормальных европейских городов
(в области инфраструктуры и благоустройства)


Вот ты сам себе противоречишь.
Везде на Urban Showcase форумах ты всегда заводил разговор о политике,
"фотки хорошие, но...,"

И это всего лишь из-за одного упоминания Собянина....
Потому что моя позиция заключается в том что люди не только должны на одну Красную Площадь ходить, покупать там матрёшки, люди, независимо от их национальности, местоположения, должны знать какие изменения, какие новости там, перед тем как куда ездить.
Впитать этот дух, принять это

He must know true spirit of the city, not "pseudo-russian", know local things
