What is so special about that old building in the middle? They should demolish it and design the terrain from a blank page, because it doesn't fit in the program of Zaha Hadid.

However, when they choose to build the better design of the students (post 7), the old building will be respected much more by its surroundings. So Bratislava should reject Zaha and continue with the students. (it is better and cheaper)

Hadid projects are awful... Destroying every European city where she puts her hand on by her 'Asian style' absolutely out of contecst.
She doesn't use the most important objects in planning - streets.

by any means this is one of the most idiotic things i have ever read on scc forum, your assumptions are purely irational and may god have mercy on yourself...

Zaha Hadid is Iranian, but her career life is based in London, she is one of the most respected architects in the world.

Zahas style can be simply desribed as futuristic, very organic and inovative. She uses unordinary materials and designs... typical feature of her projects is the liquidity factor, which resembles the building being constantly in the move

Glad to welcome Zaha in my hometown

Agreed. Hadid's buildings are so extraterrestrial they could be placed anywhere, they are usually not designed for a specific location. I bet if this project will be rejected, she can easily propose it somewhere else on the world. Her buildings are more in place in blingbling Gulf States. They don't fit in Bratislava.

I disagree...to me Hadid is one of the best architects in the world, I love her designs.

This tower (147m) in Marseille is to me one of her beautiful projects (now completed):

It used to serve as the city heat station, but nowdays it is damaged ... on the other hand it belongs to the city monuments as well, so they are not allowed to demolish it. It was built in 1941 and designed by one of the most famous Slovak architects - Dušan Jurkovič :-)

By any means this should be brig on you.

I'm just happy that Hadid's project in Warsaw was cancelled... I don't care If Bratislava will look like for example post-modernist nightmare - Dubai.
But still.. pretty sad.

It's just matter of taste. I prefer cubic shapes and right angles than futuristic curved towers.
This project is impressive, looks like a really big step but it's not the right way to go in my opinion.

The project is still alive - construction permit is expected in the next year, so the first phase can be done in 2015.
