Politics and controversies are not allowed on many other regional subforums, including the Argentine one. Your thread would be closed promptly, I think.

Yes, the UK forum is remarkably liberal. A lot of the subforums ban swearing.

Why the view from Buenos Aires should worry you all

It is difficult to take issue with Argentina's President, Cristina Kirchner, when she claims that Britain is a 'crude colonial power in decline'.

Looked at from the perspective of Buenos Aires, the recent cuts made to our Armed Forces by the Coalition have confirmed our status as a second-rate power. More to the point, so far as Argentina is concerned, we could no longer muster a naval task force to defend the Falkland Islands if the Argentine government decided to launch another military offensive to reclaim the group of islands known throughout Argentina as "Las Malvinas".

The Argentines have certainly seen through David Cameron's bluster in the Commons this week that the security of the Falklands was not in doubt. With all the difficulties we are experiencing in Libya, it is obvious that our military prowess has been greatly diminished since 1982, when Margaret Thatcher won the Falklands war. Our only hope these days is that the Argentines no longer have any appetite for launching another invasion.

...and I will add that she is quite right on her assessment, that's all.

What absolute nonsense. You’re living in a dream world mate. If that’s the case why isn’t your military offensive under way already? Just try it!

That's what they said last time. And pricks who talk like you do ultimately cost a lot of people their lives. Think on.

I wouldn't disagree that the UK is a second-rate power these days, unfortunately for Argentine sabre-rattlers though second-rate power > fourth-rate power

Britain could defeat Argentina from a computer!! We wouldn't need a naval force. Those were so 1982.

Argentina no longer needs any Exocet, the next time one of these will be enough to defeat Britain from the mainland.

A sophisticated home made in Argentina of a 'Galena Radio' the ultimate weapon to defeat the British, enough to scramble their precarious and outdated communication system.

The ultimate weapon of massive destruction.

Wait for Cameron and his cabinet to start the smear and paranoiac campaign over this, similar as Blair the liar did with Irak.

The guy who wrote that is on crack. Somebody please tell him that we don't have anything worth calling an army anymore. Invasion? How? Maybe if we used an Icebreaker or something

In other news;

A British company searching for oil off the Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic says it has made further significant finds.

The company, Rockhopper Exploration, said it expected to start pumping oil by 2016.

Daddy has nothing to do with this!!! FYI we just did hire the mad scientist Doc Brown from 'Back to the Future' 1982 so we can start all over again in 2011, so be tuned.

Another falklands thread

Anyway!

New Oil Find off Falklands

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-14925620

Well done to the oil companies for their find, A Great find for a british company near british land.

Argentina should give up while they can, They have no legal claim to the islands, they only claim them because of their location.

Also a quick message to all the argentine trolls, including alfabeta.

You can post your silly worthless images of stupid stuff, but that wont change the situation at all, your making a fool of yourselves even coming on this forum.

UK spends A hell of alot more then argentina spends on it's defence budget, we have cruise missiles that could sink ship's or anything that threatens falklands security and peace.

argentina has no cruise missiles hardly any ships, crappy old aircraft, and no way for your toy soldiers to get to the islands.

And you still come on here and make us laugh, we have the world's most advanced weapons, the cut's mean nothing anymore.

Also i see AlfaBeta has posted something that DOES NOT Relate to the subject of this thread at all, Nothing new there he does it all the time.....

I Know one of you idiotic trolls will reply to this, with a picture of something incredibly stupid or something incredibly childish, AlfaBeta will be the one to do both of those thing's, all i can do is sigh.

Why do you talk about 'England'? Are you so stupid that you don't understand that the Falklands belong to the whole UK? England has no separate government.

Don't forget that the majority of the population of the Falklands are Scottish/Welsh descent.
