I really enjoy looking at this thread and I hope you keep posting. I like Oslo a lot, its not boastful or overbearing like some European capitals. My impression was it seems happy doing what its doing not too concerned what others make of her. (Thats both a good and bad thing imo).
Theres some absolutely beautiful architecture and streetscapes there, and some very important buildings from a historical point of view. I have to say though, some of my fondest memories were just of walking around the neighbourhoods- Gronland, Grunerlokka, Uranienborg. (Sorry if Ive mis spellt the names).

Thanks for the comments. As for your comment about "My impression was it seems happy doing what its doing not too concerned what others make of her", I guess you are refering to some of the less successful post-war developments in the city? I think it's then worth mentioning that the city have put a lot of effort into removing the less successful areas from the city the last couple of years. I recommend you to take another trip in the future and see for yourself. ![]() As for the spelling: The names are spelt correctly, but you miss the Norwegian Ø from both Grunerløkka and Grønland of course. I went out a took a couple of pictures of a area known as Skillebekk today. 51. ![]() 52. ![]() 53. ![]() 54.

More pictures from my around the city earlier today. All the following pictures are taken in area known as Frogner/Gimle, which lies quite close to the already shown Skillebekk neighbourhood (the last Skillebekk picture looks up towards Frogner).

Thanks for the comments! It seems like the buildings agree with you, as almost all of their walls are sagging like it's made a of cream! Take a look at this close up of the green corner building. I guess it is somewhat charming, but on the other hand some of it looks like it's about to collapse.

72. New York have the Cathedral of Commerce, we have the Fortress of Commerce. Quite an unique looking old bank building.
![]() 73. The building with the dome behind it is another old bank. ![]() 74.

Yeah, quite a lot of hills and greenery surrounding the city. That's Norway for you: Large forests and step hills/mountains everywhere you go. One thing that's is great with Oslos hills is that they are actually served by the metro system! I don't think many other cities can brag about a metro line that climbs almost 500m only to serve a couple of threes, some scarcely populated suburbs and a ski jump.
