let's not generalize Filipinos in not following lines... Vietnamese, some Malaysians, and some Chinese people don't follow lines as well..... it's a matter of discipline in drivers... and the strictness of traffic rules... just like Singapore have...
this morning I drived through EDSA from Mandaluyong to Makati here in the office and the MMDA has dugged up a lot of areas in the renovating the roads especially those near the MRT stations.... this constructing is causing a very heavy traffic... I can imagine how EDSA would be if they'd close up 1 whole lane for a week or so... hehehe... anyways... just noticed some of the finished new concrete... some seemed to be not properly done.. 'parang minadali'... some are not level with the existing concrete...

Maybe there wont be enough time if they only work at night. There are lots of sections that need repair.

eventhough they work at night... the lane that is being constructed would still be closed will the concrete is being dried... thus still causing some traffic....

![]() dito sa julio vargas tadtad ng cats eye, kelaki pa parana kalabay eye, another lovely kurakot project courtesy of your friendly pasig ... actually they're much faster than before, noon it would take like weeks , nowadays for a lane of say 20 meters, they're in and out in a few days not more than a week, not bad, and there's been a lot more of this , this week overtime sila, I think by next week ok na iyan mostly.

actually they really timed the repair of the road with the long weekend.. cuz there are lesser vehicles during these times.. its a good sign that they're thinking of the public..

Actually this is an old improvement loan which was released this year. It's US $ 10 million specifically for EDSA! Courtesy of ADB, they were thinking of their own productivity kasi haha. Well for 550million they wanted to asphalt most if not all but Bayani said no , as he thinks it's a waste as the asphalt willonly be good for a few years and is more expensive but to concrete reblock would last much longer. A good practical , third world oriented solution IMO

^ yeah but the project needs implementation and so far nobody has come close to Bayani when it comes to implementing paper drawn plans.

I've been reading up, and if properly engineered and layed out, high grade aspalt can actually last longer than concrete. Its more expensive, of course...but will make the road surface much smoother.

I agree with the smoothness. And it'll probably last longer in a new road but you'll need to take out the whole of EDSA to do that , patching up in small places will not work as well in terms of durability. If we had a budget of lets say 3 billion , 30 km x 10 lanes , or 300 km at 10 million per km. We can change to asphalt para mas 1st world ang dating.

thats true...the statement i said in my previous post requires a total make over of EDSA, not just section by section.

But the Whole Bicol stretch was Asphalt overlayed and they only replaced blocks that are damaged. And so far until now it has lasted quite well. Its been like more than 7 years now since the Asphalt Overlaying and everytime I go home to Bicol the Roads are always in Good condition except for some parts of Camarines Sur w/c is very prone to flooding. Yeah maybe its not as bz as EDSA but 7 years for me of seeing the Road in its best condition ever since I was born is good, isnt it. Ayan sumali na ako sa conversation nyo ha.
P.S. I like the new technology asphalt being implemented here in singapore now. Basically the Asphalt looks more porous and when it rains this type of asphalt literally absorbs the rain water to a certain level so that tire contact is almost the same as when its not rainin. The difference is quite obvious coz there are some sections that are not replaced yet, so when it rains u will see shiny very wet road the u will come to a section that looks almost dry even on a heavy down pour. Cool Huh!
