look at the EDSA's road surface. It really needs work. I do like the greens on the MRT pylons though.

Thanks for pointing out the cadena de amor climbing plants. That is a nice way to make the MRT pylons looking less like concrete slabs but more organic and easier on the eyes. It helps with pollution, too. Does the cadena de amor have blossoms? I just remember that they smell fragrant. Blooming bougainvilleas can be a nice touch, too, but may be messy when the blooms start falling off.

Nice visuals Ty, I'm starting to see the elephants, too.

There's actually an interesting thread here in ssc about it if I'm not mistaken.

Bottom line bayani wanted a cheaper alternative.
OOPS! You misquoated me. Bicol Roads are initially Total concrete blocks all the way to manila. Just 7 years ago they asphalt overlayed it with atleast 10-15cm thick. I always remember then when i go to Naga workers are doing some sections on my way to Naga, then when I come back home in the afternoon that portion is already passable for final traffic compacting after road roller compacting. I beleive now Bicol Maharlika Highway Portion is at least 98% asphalt overlayed with original and repaired concrete blocks underneath. Cheers!

From Philjournal
24-hour work for EDSA repairs

THE Department of Public Works and Highways in coordination with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority is presently undertaking massive concrete re-blocking of dilapidated pavements along Efipanio delos Santos Avenue or EDSA.

DPWH Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. said that this is in line with the President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's efforts to further speed-up travel time in the metropolis.

He said that the re-blocking activities for the whole stretch of EDSA from Balintawak, Caloocan City to Pasay City which was started last October 28 is jointly being implemented by the various engineering districts of the agency.

Undersecretary Salvador A. Pleyto during an ocular inspection directed concerned district engineers to ensure that works are being done on a 24-hour basis.

National Capital Region Director Robert Lala said that re-blocking activities on EDSA will be suspended during the holding of SEA Games come November 27 as sports enthusiasts in the Southeast Asia are expected to come and watch games in Manila.

Road diggings will also be banned beginning December 15 to January 15 next year for the Yuletide Season as directed by Ebdane.

MMDA enforcers are in control of vehicular traffic along EDSA, minimizing inconvenience to motorists and traveling public.

just noticed this week that there are less traffic on EDSA specially in the early morn... I was told that the MMDA has already implemented the Organized Bus Scheme where each bus needs to get a dispatch card from MMDA stations before they can be allowed to drive through EDSA.... thus lessening buses on EDSA....

Do you know that without traffic in Edsa you can reach most of your destinations in 10-15 minutes.

very true, it's been relatively smooth lately, hopefully it's a more permanent thing. I hope it's the bus system working. although the reblocking has helped a bit with the people not bothering to avoid them, so no swerving to slow things down.

I knew that. One time we travelled from North EDSA to Makati in 15 minutes.

well anything is under an hour in Metro Manila without traffic. Yet in a city of 12 something million that is a rare occasion. It really didn't help when it turned to a normal public road from a highway. I wish they'd remove the traffic lights, but that's kinda impossible now they should just build underpasses or overpasses to make it possible to go Magallanes to Balintawak without stopping for lights

Well the U-turn thingey of Bayani took over some lights up north... namely three or four intersections which lack modern interchanges... EDSA is like the freeway connecting NLEX and SLEX... like Taipei's North and South Tollways linked by an elevated city freeway. Metro Manila Skyway could have well served this purpose if it weren't for the Asian Financial Crunch. Meanwhile, Funding has been available for North Ave-EDSA, Roosevelt interchanges but Bayani seems to be opposing to this....and making his U-turn a more cheaper alternative.... (IN THE SHORT TERM)

napansin ko natutuyo na ang iba. kulang lang sa dilig siguro. pero it rains once in a while naman. baka they reached their life expectancy na daming assumptions:hehe:

i do that too, sugarboy, of course to save memory space. and yeah, i'm happy too with the camera. but now it has a successor, the A610.
