EDSA is already wide enough. There's no point in adding more lanes if you're just going to have buses choke them anyway, regardless of OBR. Its also at its limit. There are already flyovers and interchanges everywhere. Save for one or two planned flyovers/tunnels, they've pretty much done all they can short of destroying the entirety of busdom and replacing their lanes with tram lines.

What people need to do is to quit crowding around EDSA. Decongestion is key. If they could finish the Skyway and C-6, and make adequate terminals in the North and South of the Metro, provincial buses and trucks that are delivering goods from the North to South and vice-versa wouldn't have to get close to Manila. And if they could make some good mass transit that didn't rely on hopping into a car or some other vehicle which consumes gasoline, the entire metropolis wouldn't have to hop into one single road during rush hour...

I agree. Making EDSA wider does not solve the problem. They need to do three things:
1) Decongest EDSA as Solblanc mentioned by finishing alternative arterial highways/avenues.
2) Construction of additional mass transit lines to improve commute times and discourage car use and relieve road based mass transportation.
3) Improve EDSA's road surface and infrastructure to speed up traveling time.

Taga-LA ako eh.. haha... if EDSA was a freeway in LA, it would've been widened since anyone with a car isn't easily convinced to use public transportation.

Metro Manila needs more mass transit rather than building more roads. Its a good thing LRT/MRT's are being planned.

MMDA or the Capitol Region should have more vision of the future and ought not to be just reactive. The proposed C6 should be thoroughy studied and make provisions for up to 16 lanes like what they did for Subic Clark Expressway. Currently the Subic Clark Expressway is being laid out for two lanes each direction but they are setting aside enough land on each side to accommodate for up to 16 lanes. They are forecasting that sometime in the future, clusters of industries will be located along the entire length of the Expressway. Hence the need for this 16 lanes. C5 or C. P. Garcia Highway starts out with several lanes somewhere near the South Luzon Expressway. By the time it reaches up to Ateneo, the lanes dwindled down to two just like how a funnel looks like. Cavite Expressway is another messy project. I understand traffic is very heavy along this highway. Because of Cavite's juxtaposition with Manila, lots of industries would want to locate themselves there. Why didn't they widen the expressway. There are enough lands that can be reclaimed along the coast of the Manila Bay with plenty remaining for the Bay City Projects. All These were the results of lack of vision.
