Two people on this page have rated Toronto above Hong Kong. I know there's a lot of Toronto fetishism on this site, but there is no way to justify that. Hong Kong is the world's premier skyline on par with only Chicago and New York. It has more skyscrapers than Toronto by far (and I mean far). It has a better setting than Toronto which frankly doesn't really have one other than the lakefront. Hong Kong has the mountains, the hills, the valleys, the ocean. Hong Kong has the height. Hong Kong has 6 supertalls. Toronto has only 1 and that's because I'm being nice and calling CN Tower a building rather than a structure which it is.

So...here's the tally:

When it comes to density and number of skyscrapers: Hong Kong > Toronto
When it comes to natural setting: Hong Kong > Toronto
When it comes to height: Hong Kong > Toronto

Hong Kong has architecture on par with Toronto with the main skyline thoroughfare including towers by world-class architects. Sure it has a lot of tall commie blocks but that just adds to the density while letting the architectural gems shine. I know this is subjective and opinions are like assholes (everyone's got one and sometimes they're full of shit) but can anyone please tell me how Toronto trumps Hong Kong in any measurable, quantitative way?

Edit: It's now 3 people in the past two pages.

We all know that Hong Kong's is a better skyline than Toronto's, there is no doubting that, but the title of this thread is "your PERSONAL top 10 skylines" and people may just prefer the aesthetics of Toronto's skyline over Hong Kong's, simple as that.

Agreed, i live in Toronto and *at least in my opinion* it's not more impressive than Hong Kong.

Hong Kong is my #1 while Toronto lands #5
between them; New York, Chicago and Shanghai

I use to have Guangzhou in my top 10, but now I can't find anything that special in its skyline. My favorite building in the city is the Pearl River Tower, but other than that the rest is just....meh for the most part.

I'm going to guess by how many good skylines that country has,
For example the USA has NYC, Chicago, LA, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, Seattle, San Francisco, Miami, Boston, Houston, Dallas, Detroit, Charlotte, St. Louis, Denver, Pittsburg, New Orleans, Baltimore, San Diego, And more, which is why it's first.

China has HK, Shanghai, Chongqing, Beijing, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Shenyang, Dalian, Wuhan, Xian, Lhasa, Nanning, Hohhot, etc.

Canada has Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Mississauga,
Winnipeg, Halifax, Quebec City, Ottawa, Regina, Saskatoon, Victoria, Hamilton, Windsor, London, and a few others.

Australia has Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Adelaide.

Exactly. Some people seem to be confusing impressive with attractive. Impressive is mainly related to size and height, while attractive can be a variety of
things based on personal aesthetic preferences.

Also, the person's comment about Toronto not having a setting other than the lake shows a bit of ignorance. That's like saying NY or Sydney doesn't have a setting other than the harbour. Toronto has hills, numerous ravines, a harbour formed by islands and outcroppings of land, an ancient escarpment, etc. The setting is not as dramatic as Vancouver, HK, or Sydney, but it's certainly there and quite lovely none-the-less.

2) Japan (Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Yokohama, Kobe, etc.)

5) Canada (Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, Montreal)
6) UK (London, Leeds, Birmingham, Liverpool)
