woah...! awesome shots!! nice work, rusty! haha Cebu Hilton looks pretty nice!

I never knew so many hotels are planning to open up in Cebu so soon... they all look so nice too! not the usual tall boxy hotels you see from international chains in Manila. the Sheraton looks really nice, and same goes for the Crown Regency building! Park Regency almost looks like a mix of the Residences GB and the Oakwood Towers. haha! hopefully that one pushes through...

I guess this just definitely validates reports that tourism is really booming there! hopefully, the endless politics in Metro Manila isn't going to hamper any efforts down in Cebu and the rest of the country.

by the way, I don't know if this has been posted here yet... haha but I just found out now too. the Hyatt Hotel and Casino Manila website has finally been updated! it looks stunning! everything from the lobby, the restuarant, the common areas, the guest rooms and especially the suites!! ang ganda! haha! hopefully they do well...

My question is, is there a place these days that will be the next Boracay? El Nido Palawan? Somewhere else?
Malapascua is touted as the next Boracay. It's an island near Cebu.

Boutique hotels seem to be the trend in the hospitality business nowadays. The major difference between a regular hotel and a boutique hotel is that the latter has only few rooms - less than a hundred. Some boutique hotels boast of having only 8 - 15 rooms. Then of course, the service is more personalized. Some hotels are so classified as "boutique" bec they have cool, artsy, avant-garde interiors. They are most often designed by artist cum interior designers cum architects. Think Philippe Starck, Versace (there was a plan to build a Versace Boutique Hotel in Bali a year ago). I dont know if the plan did push through.

If I were as rich as Erik Cua, I'd buy the decrepit Luneta Hotel along Kalaw Ave. near Luneta. The architecture is so grand - very old world. It'll make a really classy boutique hotel. Has anyone been to Hotel Miramar opposite the US Embassy? That's a boutique hotel - small and has a very art deco exterior and the building is original. I would also classify the Admiral Hotel and the one beside it (forgot the name) as boutique hotels. Whatever happened to the Admiral Hotel? How come it is not operational? The building is grand.

Cebu dominates all other provinces in the Phils in 'Hotels and Resorts of the Philippines', maybe even putting a close fight to Manila. very impressive

Looks Like the Westin Philippine Plaza is rebranding to a Sofitel Philippine Plaza

BANGKOK -- Sofitel Philippine Plaza will open in 2007 after a multi-million USD renovation programme to rooms and public areas is completed. Accor has been awarded the management contract.

Why did Westin decide to pull out? I think Starwood Hotels (parent company of Westin) has better management than Accor. Anyways, at least the hotel got renovated
