Why haven't we had a thread like this for these many years? NY's most entertaining developer/walking alert for hair terrorism never disapponts. Plenty of stuff to post and have [jealous!] snickers about. Rack 'em up boys!

Andy MacMillan, the professor emeritus of architecture at the University of Glasgow, said Wednesday the design for the clubhouse at Trump's luxury golf resort in Balmedie, northeastern Scotland, looked like some "hideous leftover from the Victorian era."

He added, "This is not even worthy of Disneyland. It is gross. It is out of character, and it doesn't begin to exploit the landscape around it -- it just stands there."

However, Trump officials said the building would echo the majesty of the Victorian Gothic Revival and its grand detail would "signify its importance as the premier building within the Great Dunes of Scotland."

The clubhouse will be the first of thousands of structures planned for the resort which will be put forward for planning permission over the next few weeks.

But MacMillan said he felt strongly enough to object to the clubhouse. He said, "Trump has been allowed to build on a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The least he could do is give us something back. But he hasn't. I feel strongly enough to object to this building. It is going too far."

Here is the catering/restaurant facility Trump has planned for Jones Beach State Park since the early 2000s:

Here's the rat infested flood hole he left after fighting with the township of Hempstead for several years due to "Trumping" up the plans at the 11th hour...A standard business practice of the Donald.

The last time I was in New York (2007) the old GM building behind the Apple Store also had a Trump Building sign on it ?

Yeah, The Donald had a partial interest in the GM Tower but later sold it. It's probably the most expensive, sought-after office building in the city. It was last sold in 2008 for $2.8 billion. That's probably when they scraped the Trump name off of it to reveal a kind of greasy ooze.

Nah, a lot of that tower is pricey apartments (global arms smuggler Adnan Khashoggi once lived there) and offices with a mall at the base. The Trumpmeister rules his empire from the 22nd floor I believe.

A lot of architects I know consider the Trump buildings to be the maximum expression of bad taste and nouveau riche architecture.

The architecture is bland and uninspired. What's nouveau riche are the gold-plated fixtures and fake Louis XVI furnishings. Trump is absolute proof that money can't buy you class.

Not a Trump fan. Trump practically signifies and even personifies the blander side of the bygone '80s. He thinks good campy kitsch is tacky, where his own sense of taste is in fact tastefully dull, if not a corporate homogenized tackyness in itself. Something from the past....
