Any pictures of express busses in service between Sao Paolo & Rio de Janeiro ? There is no railway connection, correct ? Also interesting to see the express bus terminals in those cities.

American motor-coaches

As someone who has travelled on both Euro and American long distance buses I can say I definitely prefer the American ones.

They are longer, wider, more comfortable, smoother, quiet and faster than any I have travelled on in Europe.

However America has many more older buses in service which are not as good.

Terminal in Rio de Janeiro
Such huge cities and no railway between hmm. Should be a demand of a high speed train-line here. But I sure think there is another thread about that topic

But the busstations look very modern and clean almost like a railwaystation or even airport.

Are there a major central bus station for express buses in Sao Paolo or are there several of them ?

How much $ for a single ticket Rio-Sao Paolo ?
Are there 1st and 2nd class on the express buses ?

Travelling by Greyhound would be exciting, btw company founded by a swedish immigrant (had to say that) though I have read travel forums that greyhound buses and terminal attracts shady people at night so it's abit risky at times. But probably cheaper than the train.

There is a similar bus-service in sweden and europe. You can travel with swedbus to Copenhagen and Oslo. From my hometown there even is a service to Prague with night ferry (haven't seen those busses for a while though)

Eurolines have (or had ) a direct service from Stockholm to Amsterdam & Paris. Allthough bus travel in europe is way more tiring than Greyhounds in the USA, just because the roads in america are straighter and the landscape flatter.

There is one brand between RIO AND SAO PAULO called 1001

The single ticket costs R$ 70 - R$ 120 ( all busses have air-con.)
