I don't think Ddorf is boring. I guess you could call it an average German city. It has a nice "old town" with plenty of pubs and a great shopping area. Not necessarily anything to write home about but it's an ok place.
But you prefer Koln, right?

Of course I do. It's bigger and there's more to see and do. But IMO Düsseldorf is by no means boring.

I'm going off topic, but German cities don't seem to get much love around here. Apparently people think that a city without 24/7 nightlife or medieval center is boring.

Right, although Düsseldorf's nightlife is pretty good imo.
Most German cities are probably to clean, to tidy and to properly functioning for foreigners. That's why they all love Berlin, which is the most wasted German city.

Where did you get the idea that German cities have worse nightlife than other European cities? It's quite the opposite actually.

Apparently (news from last week) Düsseldorf together with
Vienna, Zürich, München (Munich) and Auckland are
the top five cities of best life quality on the planet!
No wonder four out of five are german speaking...

I didn't say that. I said that some people here think German cities are boring because it doesn't have a beautiful medieval center, 24/7 nightlife(meaning crowded streets till dawn), or warm weather.

Wunderbar!
What other cities make good day trips from Frankfurt? I love historic sites, castles and palaces. Something there is a lot of in Germany!
