Looks like 1/2 of Treasury.
I actually liked the Camelot one, but it seems like I was in the minority there. |

Anyone know if this one has landed on PD Online yet? They said they would submit it a week ago but I can't seem to find it.

Doesn't look like it. I was about to post saying that it is usually for developers to submit applications weeks after they said they were going to.

I've been keeping an eye out for it and haven't seen anything either. Wish it would come out, it's an intriguing project!

Will somebody please tell me what I'm missing here? I'm not trying to be funny but I agree totally with RallyOz19. I liked the application for Camelot a hell of a lot better than Devine's latest proposal.
Camelot had one side that was curved and looked to be a lot of glass. The top looked decorative. Even the side with exposed balconies looked quite ok in my opinion. It was getting away from the typical Devine box. This latest proposal is a BOX. An office with glass but a BOX. Up until very recently, most people on here would have poo pooed this because it is a bland BOX. It is only 20 stories high and whilst the feeling seems to be that it fits in nicely with the other two building on the other corners, the question remains... does that make it ok? It means that we will be stuck with three buildings of a similer, low height....yes, office instead of units but surely we should be wanting a staggered skyline for the CBD?? If 111 goes ahead (even the office tower) and Carrington gets built, then it wont matter so much but if they don't then we will be stuck with an even more boring skyline in that part of the CBD. I do want to know what it is that makes this building special and quite ok with quite a few of you. Again, I'm not trying to be smart. I genuinly want to know what I'm missing. |

I think your question is best answered by looking at what's on the site currently, the answer being not much! The proposal is designed and would be built by the AM60 team, who gave us a rather nice building opposite. The inclusion of a supermarket will help activate the area, which is essentially a dead area of the city at current, and it could kickstart other development in the area. Also, between Soliel, Infinity, Carrington and a bucketload of developments in the Valley, Sth Bris, West End, Woolloongabba, Teneriffe, Bowen Hills, etc, the inner city will be pretty well set for apartments. Also, as the economy isn't exactly good for resi developers either, it means that there was always the chance that Camelot might never have eventuated anyway. Having a big, grand proposal is one thing, being able to build it is often another! Having a smaller commercial building, at a time when a lot of companies are apparently looking for new premises, is probably a safer option with a better chance of becoming a reality. Something is always better than nothing! |

I think it's an appropriate building for the site because yes, it does fit in with the other two towers at that corner, plus I think it's of an appropriate scale for that part of the CBD. There aren't a lot of shops and there isn't great access to this part of the CBD (obviously that will change when CRR is built), plus I think you can do much better things with density when you have a lot of 20 storey buildings than a few 50-70 storey buildings.
A lot of the buildings in this area recently have been going for quality over size, which I think is much more important. It's a great area to work in (I have worked down there before (just next door to AM60), and it's beautiful to have the gardens one block away and the mall 4 blocks away. This is a great area of the city and I definately think they're going the right way about this. |

We FINALLY have a DA for this one: A003220666
I'm having a look at it now, I'll put more details when I get time (unless someone else does it first!) |

I don't much like the southern elevation - and thats what will be seen from the park and freeway as you enter Brisbane.
![]() Hope it gets hidden by something nice ;-)

I'm not a fan of prefab concrete walls either, but I'll admit that it's one of the better ones I've seen, with the offset of the windows, the aluminium louvers and glazed stairwell at least giving it a little bit of interest.I'll be interested to see if BCC have any thoughts about the use of Beatrice Lane as solely an access corridor. I remember that with Devine's last proposal, they called for the lane to be activated, as it could connect with an activated rear area proposed for the Carrington development. Also, I think the bike entrance might create issues, as cyclists would have to either ride up Beatrice Lane from Margaret St and negotiate with the loading dock of the supermarket, or ride up the lane from Albert St the wrong way (the lane is one way – entry in Margaret St, exit to Albert St). And interesting little aside, in the Public Domain report, reference is still made to Devine's "French Quarter Building 3" (111 Margaret) which is to be built on the site of Hotpoint House. I thought that project was long since dead personally. If it is still around, that should cover the prefab concrete quite nicely! |

Anything to help plug that final "gap" along Albert St between KGS/QSM and the Gardens. And if it helps further activate the Watson Bros Building, I'll be very pleased!

Signage up on site today saying completion possible by end of next year, obviously depending on if they can find a tenant.
Still think the size of this project would be better suited to the valley rather on one of the remaining develop-able blocks in the city

Just what I was thinking - this sized project is more suited to the fringe suburbs now than a prime CBD site.
