If yes, it is Istinye Park. Which is a Mall in Istinye(next to Maslak).

One of my favourite books of all time is Orhan Pamuk's 'Istanbul - Memories and the city' - in which he talks of the 'Huzun': the collective melancholy brought about by centuries of imperial greatness, contrasted with the state of decline and confusion that was characteristic of Istanbul when he was growing up.

I love his images of the wooden pasha's houses, and the activity, & comings and goings on The Bosphorous.

What, I think, I love about Istanbul - is that tension between east and west - I love the blending - at times fractious and abrupt - but the cosmopolitan feel of it.

When I , finally, get to visit Istanbul, I do not just want shopping malls, cool bars and designer labels - I want the texture and sense of a civilisation rich in culture.
