When you look at all the arenas around the world, what would you like it to look like? If you like the Staples Center why would you need the solar panels when it doesnt have a lot of sun up there during the season? |

One of the problems with our high water table is the inability to significantly depress the seating bowls of our stadiums/arena in the Sodo district. Hence, they all rather loom larger on the skyline than what I'd prefer.

m - Your question got me thinking. I'm torn between something far out like the Library or more staid and classy like Benaroya Hall, leaning toward the latter. Ooo oo how about this .. since the other two structures soar, how about a fantastic (Sydney Opera House??) soaring structure for this site also, so the impact of all three is migrating birds taking off from the mud flats. Just a thought.

And maybe I don't know what I'm talking about- I'm assuming the cost of land acquisition and construction in NYC is quite a bit more than Seattle.

So Brooklyn gets $1 Billion arena, minus land cost, Seattle gets $450 million arena, minus land cost ($430 million) we shouldn't be stunned we aren't getting a Taj Mahal of sports arenas. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/23/ny...pagewanted=all

I'm a huge Mariner Fan- but they are seriously clueless right now; let AMTRAK fight these fights. The M's cannot afford any bad press or further alienation of their fan base.

Mariners should put some energy into fielding a half decent team.

They're going to have a hell of a video wall, though!
http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/20...s-video-board/ Maybe when the M's are playing poorly, they can put on an interesting game on it to keep the fans interested.

Still far from complete, but an updated design of the Preferred Option 3. |

Will they start building the new arena if they don't have an NBA basketball or NHL hockey team? or are they waiting until they have one or the other before starting to build?

Not starting without an NBA team. Chris has been very clear and firm on this.

"The design team will take input they received from the meeting, update their design and make another presentation in January. They also note that the colors and finishes on the arena are far from set, so people shouldn’t get too hung up on the orange."
Do hope that in the end its a brilliant, deep EMERALD GREEN. |

These make me like the arena designs a whole lot more. I like the idea of a very transparent facade with an inner part that actually constitutes the arena itself.
