I remember seeing a picture on here in some thread about a building that was to rival the empire state building around when the ESB was built. I want to say it was a tower for a bank. It had a VERY unique design to say the least. Would anyone have any more info or a picture of it?

Don't like Chicago Spire that much although it would have been a nice extra. Chicago WTC is awesome.

Looks to me like you are either talking about the 368 meter Larkin Building or about the approximately 392 meter MetLife North Building

Riverside South, at the Canary Wharf financial district in London.

Twin towers right on the banks of the Thames - tower 1 was to become the tallest skyscraper in Canary Wharf at 236m

This proposal was ruined by the 2008 market crash - JP Morgan were going to built it as a European HQ, but the crunch made them think twice - which is a shame because it would have been a strong image seeing these twin towers from Tower Bridge.

Officially It's apparently still under construction, but the site's been dead for years, still at the basement works stage and realisitically not going to happen now.... it's as good as cancelled.

Two towers on furthest right: Edit - the tall tower on the furthest left is cancelled too I think, it was cool too..

The Metlife North Building would have been such an amazing addition.

And today (30 floors):

The base is meant to support at least 100 floors.

Quote:
The building contains 30 elevators, enough to serve the originally-planned 100 floors. Since the building now only contains 30 floors, there is often no wait for elevators in the building, making it very attractive to potential tenants and real estate brokers.
Never say never! Who knows, maybe some day someone will eventually build the tower to its full height.

I found another visionary project which I absolutely love like the Chicago World Trade Center and the Trump World Trade Center. It is the 2092 meter Houston Tower
