^ Is there any chance that project by Hadid gets resurrected? It's one of the rather few by her I actually like a lot.

College Park, Toronto

It was to be the largest retail/office complex in the world with over 5,000,000 sq ft of space, but the stock market crash of 1929 halted construction with only one of the 4 corners fully built. It remains as is today with a few awkward additions tacked on here and there.

another one:
instead of this timeless beauty:

we are getting this plain building:

In 1958 there was a decision to rebuilt a neighborhood in central Tel-Aviv and a propasal by Oscar Niemeyer was made. This is how it looked:

and instead we got this one:

Original TransAmerica Tower Proposal - San Francisco

This baby was originally going to be 1,000 ft tall but NIMBYs forced the developers to trim it down 137 ft.

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...MN5D1B277O.DTL

Note how the service shafts don't protrude as much in the taller proposal.

Signature Tower Nashville

A 1,057 ft residential supertall planned for Nashville. It was an early victim of the 2008 mortgage meltdown.
