Miglin-Beitler Skyneedle

This is the best of all, I hope they resurrect this design and build it somewhere else. Maybe here in Shanghai.

Is there an example of a cancelled skyscraper meant for one city that ended up being built in another city?

Would have been built around 1909, the Civic center in Chicago. My only regret greater than the fact that it was not built is that it didn't have better proportions and wasn't even BIGGER.

A scaled down version resembling this building was actually built. Then very regrettable the powers that be demolished it in 1965. I don't believe in the death penalty but I sometimes which I could go back in time to apprehend and execute the shortsighted schmucks responsible for the destruction of such buildings.

Maybe a start a movement to have such developers and politicians to be tried posthumously.

PGCC Penang, Malaysia

It was a great building at the wrong place. Smack right next to a residential area it was heavily protested because of the congestion that was taught it would bring. There were also political reasons too.

This skyscraper by BIG architects was originally proposed as part of a competition in Europe (I forget where), but it was noticed by a Chinese businessman and now the same design (albeit scaled up to Chinese proportions) is a project in China:

The Penang Complex was one of my favourite futurist concepts ever!

Any chance to see it resurrected somewhere? I wish so badly.
