the only time i would choose CebuPacific over PAL on a DVO-MNL flight is if walang sundo since i can just walk across the terminal and hail a cab since sobrang mahal ng taxi sa Centennial
![]() other than that, PAL all the way since napaka cramped ng seats ng CebuPacific compared sa PAL A330, dunno with the A320s of PAL though if maluwag din

In sardines business, there are two types of packaging. Canning and Bottling. The latter used to be the realm of premium products considering that glass are more expensive than tin cans. Likewise cost of preparation are expensive too because they extensively require manual labor. As compared to tin cans, cost per can is about 1.20 pesos, excluding profit and distribution cost, while glass packing is around 24 to 26 pesos per glass.
As to tin cans, almost all sardines producers are located in Zamboanga City because all the sardines school can be found in sulu, mindanao and celebes seas near the borders of Malaysia, while tuna can be found on the high seas bordering Indonesia. That is why tuna can cheaply be found in Gensan. So with sardines in Zamboanga and herings in Dipolog. All of this business enterprises are established based on economic factors, that is seafood supply. Other difference is that previously, tin cans are for domestic consumption while bottled ones are for export. This time, tin cans are exported while bottled ones are made available for domestic, only that its expensive but tasty nevertheless. |

I dont think Zamboanga International Airport sells sardines at their terminal unlike that of Dipolog. The last time I was there, I could find none to bring back home. Perhaps you can easily find it in the shelves of SM or Robinson way back in Manila but not bottled sardines. It was just lately that they were made available for domestic consumption. Definitely you can find durian products in Davao airport as well as bottled sardines at Dipolog Airport. So there's the connection. ![]() For additional info consider these useful and impartial links: http://www.cebupacificair.com/aboutu.../07132006.html http://www.cebusmile.com/2007/06/01/destination-guides/ http://www.philippinebusiness.com.ph...enterprise.htm http://www.fortunecity.com/silversto...69/travel.html http://showbizandstyle.inquirer.net/...icle_id=120964 |

DIPOLOG AIRPORT APRIL 2008
DIPOLOG AIRPORT APPROACH
look at that! the first phase of the expansion project is almost complete judging from this video. You can clearly see the new laid concrete making it 45 meters wide. And they have extended the threshold of runway 02 by 10 meters. The new PAPI lights were now also installed replacing the VASI. It used to be only two for visuals. now you can see the international standard for ILS approaches. The second phase slated this June are for extension purposes. Like the boulevard project, I did not realized that it is now that long and still going. Its nice to see them on the air finally. ![]() By the way, thanks to our friend at Philippine Airlines for sharing. Last edited by arianespace; July 22nd, 2008 at 10:54 AM. |

TURBO PROP SERVICE BACK AT DIPOLOG AIRPORT
7 May 2008 PAL Express to fly 22 routes initially CATICLAN, Malay, Aklan – PAL Express, the new, low-fares brand of Philippine Airlines, will serve 22 inter-island routes at the outset, including some provincial points currently without air service or underserved by other players, PAL president Jaime J. Bautista announced today. “With PAL Express, Philippine Airlines is reassuming its traditional mandate of providing quality, affordable air service to outlying communities. Such air link has historically acted as a spur for the development of these areas.” said Bautista. “PAL Express also allows PAL to offer a low-fare yet high-value alternative in many trunkline and tourist routes such as here in Caticlan,” he added during arrival ceremonies of the inaugural PAL Express flight from Manila. Other PAL executives onboard the maiden flight were deputy chief executive officer Henry So Uy and assistant vice president for sales Antonio Herrera. On hand to welcome the PAL delegation were Aklan vice-governor Gabrielle Calizo; members of the travel trade; and representatives from the media. Caticlan, gateway to the resort island of Boracay, is the first destination of PAL Express, which will operate 12 flights daily from Manila starting today. Brand-new, 50-seater Bombardier Q300 turbo-propeller aircraft are deployed on the high-traffic route. PAL Express will dramatically expand its network over the next two months, with service scheduled to be launched on 22 routes. Thirteen of those new routes emanate from PAL Express’ main hub of Cebu, where operations start May 19 with services to five points – Caticlan, Bacolod, Tacloban, Butuan and General Santos. On the same day, a daily flight between Manila and Busuanga in northern Palawan will also commence. On May 26, three more services will operate out of Cebu: Davao, with thrice-daily flights; Iloilo, twice daily; and Puerto Princesa, a single flight everyday. On June 23, four new destinations will be served from Cebu – Dipolog, Ozamiz, Cagayan de Oro and Zamboanga, with the last service proceeding onward to Davao and back – rounding out the Cebu hub network for now. On the other hand, PAL Express’ other hub in Manila will add several new routes in July: Surigao, Legazpi, Virac and Cauayan (Isabela) on July 21, and San Jose (Occidental Mindoro), Calbayog and San Fernando (La Union) on July 26. With PAL Express’ entry, Surigao, Cauayan and San Fernando, which have gone without air service for many years now, will once more enjoy a regular air link to Manila – a service PAL first provided these small cities in the 1980s. Likewise, travelers to Virac, San Jose, Ozamiz and Calbayog will benefit from PAL Express’ upgraded service and competitive fares. Currently, these points are underserved by existing carriers. |

![]() PAL Express adds Dipolog to Cebu hub starting July 1 Lynda B. Valencia MANILA, June 27 (PNA) -- Starting July 1, 2008, PAL Express, the low-fares brand of Philippine Airlines (PAL), will add five new routes to its Cebu network nearly doubling the present reach of its main hub. PAL will also expand its domestic network to 30 routes across 21 destinations throughout the country. PAL president Jaime J. Bautista said the new services will be between Cebu and Cagayan de Oro, Cebu and Ozamiz, Cebu and Dipolog, Cebu and Zamboanga, and Zamboanga and Davao. “With four more important routes between Cebu and as many Mindanao points, plus one key intra-Mindanao route, we are giving our Cebu-based passengers further options in their travel itineraries, and at lower fares at that, said Bautista. He said the Cagayan de Oro, Zamboanga and Zamboanga-Davao services will all operate daily, while the Ozamiz service will fly four times weekly and the Dipolog service, three times weekly. "All will utilize modern, 76-seater Bombardier Q400 turbo-prop aircraft, the flagship of the PAL Express fleet," Bautista said. PAL Express has undergone rapid expansion since launching less than two months ago, on May 5. Bautista said the addition of the five routes widens the brand’s network to 11 routes out of its Cebu base and 13 overall, counting two routes from its secondary hub of Manila. PAL Express already operates flights of varying daily frequencies between Cebu and Bacolod, Butuan, Boracay (Caticlan), General Santos, Puerto Princesa and Tacloban. The Cebu hub was inaugurated only last May 19. From Manila, PAL Express flies eight times daily to Boracay and daily to Busuanga in northern Palawan. More destinations and routes will be added to the network in the coming weeks as PAL Express takes delivery of its aircraft. In all, the unit will operate a fleet of nine Bombardier turbo-props – six Q400s and three Q300s. Five of the nine aircraft are already in service, with the latest Q400 joining the fleet just this week.(PNA)

![]() Q400's are ex-SAS but refurbished by Bombardier before delivery to PAL. It went D-check and gear replacement at their plant so basically its a brand new plane with old airframe, meaning new engine, interiors and landing gears, but not quite as new as the Q300 which came fresh from the plant.

CEBU PACIFIC ADDS FREQUENCY TO DIPOLOG
Cebu Pacific maiden flight Low-fare leader Cebu Pacific is adding frequencies to its services from Manila to Bacolod, Tacloban, Cotabato, and Dipolog. The airline will also expand its route network from Cebu with the launch of its direct Cebu-General Santos (GenSan) service starting August 15, 2008. CEB introduces the additional frequencies and announces its Cebu-GenSan operations with a seat sale which will run from July 24 to 29, 2008. This is valid for travel from August 15 to November 30, 2008. One-way fares to Bacolod, Tacloban and Cebu-GenSan is at P999 ‘all-in’ while fares to Cotabato and Dipolog is at P1,499 ‘all-in’. Candice Iyog, CEB spokesman said, “We will continue to expand our operations and offer the lowest ‘all-inclusive’ fares especially to new CEB routes that have not been previously exposed to our low fares.” The three-times weekly Cebu-GenSan service will operate every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The flight departs from Cebu at 10:30am and arrives in GenSan at 11:30am. It leaves GenSan at 12:00nn and arrives back in Cebu at 1:10pm. CEB’s Manila-Bacolod service will grow from 21 to 24 flights weekly while its Manila-Tacloban service will increase from 21 to 25 flights weekly. The carrier will also increase its operations to Cotabato from five-times weekly to daily while Manila-Dipolog will grow from four times to five times weekly. Iyog added, “We encourage the public to book their flights via www.cebupacificair.com or call its reservations hotline (02) 7020888 or (032) 2308888 or contact their travel agent. Fares are so low and are even comparable to other modes of transport such as ferries and buses.” Now in its 13th year, CEB has the youngest aircraft fleet in the Philippines. It has a fleet of ten A319s, eight A320s, and two ATR72-500 aircraft. |
