Kimiwind's Seoul Photography - Summer 2011
Ok, I've came around to a conclusion that i should contribute to the Korean forum. I spent couple of weeks in Seoul alone, and i pretty much covered all the major hubs and suburbs. Thus, i want to share with you guys, fans of Korea and skyscrapers, some of my photography around Seoul.
PS: I will be starting similar threads about Busan, Daegu, Jeju Island,Mokpo, and Andong when i will have time. So Enjoy guys. First off, we shall start with Gangnam ! The weather wasen't as cool or sunny, but I still had pretty nice shots.Edit: This thread will be updated on regular basis . comments of course are appreciated =). (Last Update 23/02/2012)Please, if you want to share my photos anywhere on the net, let me know FIRST. Anything else will not be tolerated. Thank you. Yes, i went to South Korea alone without any background about the language. Actually the language will not be a problem because Koreans are very helpful regardless if their grasp of English is good or not. I spent in Korea as a whole 1 month and the language has never been a problem for me. People will try to help you as much as possible (for example, the day i was going to take the plane back home, i needed to switch the metro to another line that is not actually related directly to the main metro web, and i was lost, and at the end a very old man "I'd say at least 80 years old" came to me and helped me just by following him, and directed me only with his hands..). It was ironic because the old man cannot understand English at all and still helped me to go out of Seoul and take the train to Incheon International Airport. So, don't worry about the language. At least, for me, the language has never been a problem in Korea.
But that depends on you, and your character, ect..! But I'd say 98% of the koreans were ready to help me anytime i needed . So you figure it out. It won't be worse than you think =).I spent 2 weeks in Seoul alone. The other half i toured from the north to the south to the west, ect..! I visited Busan, Mokpo, Daegu, Jeju, and many more smaller cities. I had actually many friends there so it was easier for me to navigate throughout the country. I was lucky though to have such great people around me, it helped me alot to dig in the Korean culture and let me be more than just a tourist. I mostly felt myself a Korean back there .So may i ask you, where are you from, and how old are you, and when you are planning your visit? So maybe i can give you some advices like to where to go and what to do, ect... Regards. |

Your initiary looks good, but then again, I don't know exactly how much days you will stay in Seoul. This is some more interesting spots that you can visit while in there: 1- Gyeongbok-gung (A great historical palace). A must see. 2- Namdaemun market (Just to experience the traditional shopping of Seoul). 3- Yongsan Museum (National Museum of Korea). It's just beside 'The Drangonhill Spa'. You can see the photos before your post. 4- 63 Building (Tallest building in Asia when completed in 1985). It has a lot to offer and great observatory deck. 5- Gangnam financial district. A trendy place with a lot of Fashion and sense of class. Skyscrapers and glass everywhere. Although, if you tell me how much exactly you are willing to stay, i can provide you more interesting sites to cover. It needs time to see all these at once .

I stayed 3 nights in Seoul at Hi Seoul Youth Hostel. the price was so cheap compared to the great service they provide and the location. If I remember very well, the price was around 25000 won, that's roughly 22$ for dormitory type. Single bed was for 55000 won, about 50$. It's located on the main street in yeongdeungpo district. It's very famous that you will see signs of it at the exists of the subway. 10 minutes walk to the subway. The building is huge and high tech and it looks more like an office building. I highly recommend it to you. Cheap and convenient. For more reference, check the official website: http://www.hiseoulyh.com/eng/ |
