Now we get to the traditional part of Seoul. This is a pretty interesting cultural village located at the heart of the capital city. Many tourists and also Koreans come here to check this traditional section of the city. Let's see what this village has to offer .

It's been a while since I updated this thread (I apologize for those who have been waiting).

Let's continue the journey with my visit to Namsan Gol Village.

When I completed exploring the historical place of Hanock Village, I decided to go by feet to Anguk station (Which was about 30 min I reckon). On my way I felt hungry and weary, so I went ahead and had a nice lunch in an upscale restaurent .

Anyway, on my way back to Anguk station

The view from my sit in the restaurent

248 -

249 -

Really nice and clean streets:

250 -

Nice glass office buildings :

251 -

252 -

253 -

More traditional:

254 -

255 -

256 -

And we are getting there (Jongro District) =). It looked chaotic:

257 -

First shots of the Namsan Gol Village gardens (The entrance was free If I remember well):

258 -

259 -

260 -

261 -

262 -

263 -

264 -

Perfect place to relax and forget your life problems:

265 -

266 -

267 -

Then I found this nice tea place . For the experience, I entered in and had a cold sour cup of traditional tea , and it was worth it. It was also fun to be rounded by these Korean old ladies who were starring at me every now and then , given that I was the only man and also foreigner sitting there.

268 -

269 -

270 -

It was simple but nicely served by a beautiful waitress. As you can see, a cup of cold tea with ice cubs, and additionnal grapes for a bit of sweetening.

271 -

272 -

One of the most interesting things in this village is the cultural experience that it offers. There is wide different stuff you can learn for paying as alittle as 5$. Anyways, I was bound for tea ceremony option, which I always found interesting. The nice Korean lady teached me how to serve and drink tea the Korean way.

273 -

274 -

A little tour on the village:

Up next, The second part of Namsan Gol Village.

I was in Korea 4 times while in the US Army, 1960-61, 69-70, 78-79, 81-82. The amount of change from 1960 to 1982 was huge. The change from 1982 to now is remarkable!

I have been invited to return to Korea later this year to visit, and do some site seeing. I spent the years I was in Korea at several small villages mainly near Chorwon, in the central area. I loved the beautiful country in this area, and hope it has not seen as much growth as Seoul.
