TBH i like the gulf cup, because we get to face the gulfies and that will be useful especially as friendly matches and Oman.

I'm sad to say that I'm quite skeptical when it comes to the national team, I don't think they are nearly good enough to compete against in the World Cup qualifiers.

We have seen what happened to the Saudi football during these past 4 years, they probably have one of the shittiest teams in west Asia right now, that's mainly because of shitty planning by their football association.

Lets hope the Iraqi football doesn't head that way.
KSA's national football team is not bad. They just played 0-0 against Argentina of all teams. Yes, Messi and most of the other stars actually played from the beginning until the end. Moreover KSA played better in large parts of the game. It's just that the current generation is not as good as the old that qualified for the World Cup 4 times in a row, YET.

KSA is one of the best Asian countries historically. Only Japan have won more Asian Cups than KSA (4-3). KSA have also participated 4 times in a World Cup - more than any Arab country. Only South Korea of all Asian countries have participated in more World Cups than KSA.

^ yes KSA team is actually a good team, but the emirs in their football association are trying to hand pick the players they want. Their choices aren't usually the best. That's why Saudi football has been really bad lately.

That I do not know I must tell. Don't watch them that often. But I remember the old generation quite fondly. Of course they were not that good compared to the world's top teams but in Asian and Arab standards they were by far the best at that time. Some very good and friendly players.

That of today I do not know that much about. But I saw the match against Argentina that ended 0-0 and they played quite good. Was surprised by the level of technique, athleticism and power. Even their defensive approach and goalkeeper was really good.

Their manager is also Frank Rijkaard a former successful FC Barcelona manager.

But I would not be surprised to hear if they have made stupid decisions in their football federation.

I did not get it, why? Because of the national anthem?
