Not completely MI, we have many examples of companies shifting to other locations, just because Infopark is inactive!

Yaar, Mr Gijo Joseph, be proactive, rather reactive. You are a CEO!

Well, just because a CEO is hyperactive, doesn't make any organization better. It has to be a chain reaction, starting from top of management to bottom. Infopark was badly showcased or underdeveloped since 2006, in my opinions. The Govt did their bit, only to showcase in front of Public, that if TECOM is not there, we can do that- kind of attitude... Not sincerly in consideration of buliding up another IT Park..... Thats stamped everywhere.....

Gigo came only since a few months.... The state of Infopark was almost like this for past 5 to 6 years.....

Anyways, its normally a slow start in Kerala, everywhere... Once started, it will boom fast... Thats a basic nature here... We have solid examples..... I feel, we don't need to worry much, as within a period of time say 2 or 3 years, lots of enterprises will move down here..... Well, I don't look forward our city going to be another Bangalore... Our aim should be creating a Mini-Mumbai here, mixture of several industries, catering several class of people minus the crimes and slums..... Thats always a safe net.... There is a saying, putting eggs in several baskets....

One thing is very positive for Kerala as whole. Finally after 2 decades, IT Companies started feeling confidence in our state. Thats a very positive sign.... So naturally, once they are in, they will spread out, considering the uniqueness of Kerala.... The Push-Pull factors works very well.....

And thats good also... We can see a equitable growth

I totally disagree that state of Infopark was the same since 2006. There has been major developments since then. Wipro Campus came up. There has been considerable developments like TCS campus construction which started now. In 2006 only Thapasya and Vismaya was operational. Today just check how many buildings are operational. Now Phase II has started construction which is a great achievement by standards of Tier II cities. Infopark was the fastest developing IT park in India in 2008-09. I also see greater hope than Smart city for Infopark which is much hyped and going on delayed and in the next two years it will offer only 4000 jobs(Construction of first building is to begin in November which will not happen now)

Infopark Kochi is awaiting Special Economic Zone (SEZ) status for more area where it proposes to develop its second phase.

A meeting of the Board of Approvals (BoA) of the Union Ministry of Commerce had granted SEZ status to about 31 acres of the 160-odd acres identified for the second phase in Puthencruz and Kunnathunadu villages in September last year.

Infopark has now applied for SEZ status for another 60-odd acres and the BoA is likely to consider it during its next meeting, sources said.

Meanwhile, land development work on the site of the second phase is progressing. While the rain has slowed down the progress of the work, everything is going as per plan, sources said.

Discussions are also on to identify co-developers for the second phase. Infopark is on the lookout for co-developers with experience in IT infrastructure development for developing IT/BPO complexes in the 97 acres of SEZ area. Developers also have options to construct hotels, a convention centre, sports club and other recreational facilities in the additional 25 acres of non-SEZ area.

Basic infrastructure

Infopark proposes to complete the first building earmarked for software-cum-IT/BPO complex with a built-up space of 4 lakh sq.ft. by March 2013. The IT/BPO complex will have a seating capacity of 4,500. The objective is to complete all the three proposed buildings with an area of about 15 lakh sq.ft in the next seven years.

Infopark aims to undertake the construction of the buildings without any time gap in between. The construction of the second building will be launched by December next year even as the first building is nearing completion.

Development of basic infrastructure facilities such as sub-station, internal road system, water intake, treatment and storage, data and communication connectivity, land development, compound wall, guest house, and common food courts have already been taken up. By the time the first building is ready to be commissioned, the entire park will also be ready with all the necessary amenities, Infopark CEO Gijo Joseph said.

The total area has been classified into SEZ, commercial, and non-SEZ for development. The domestic park in the new phase is aimed at creating cost effective infrastructure for the IT/BPO industry. It will have all state-of-the-art facilities including shopping arcades, town centre plaza, convention centre, women's hostel, guest house, facilities for rest and recreation, boat club, etc.

On completion, the park is expected to provide employment to around 80,000-90,000 professionals. The State government has allocated Rs.50 crore towards infrastructure development for the second phase.

Smart City & Infopark Phase II for more SEZ status

State Goverment has requested the centre to grant SEZ status for the additional 67 acres of land of the IP phase II expansion. Already 31 acres have been granted SEZ by the central govt. Total 125 acres of land have been acquired for phase II expansion, where the 4.5 lakh sq. ft IT-BPO complex construction is progressing. Massive growth ahead for Infopark
Quote:
Infopark, the icon venture of Kerala in the IT sector, is all set to multiply the employment opportunities. The Rs 2,500-crore second phase development of Infopark will be implemented in the next five years. “The Infopark will be able to generate 80,000 employment opportunities by 2018. It will become the premium IT enterprise in the country by 2018,” Infopark CEO Jijo Joseph has said.
The procedure for acquiring 125 acres of the 160 acres land identified in Puthencruz and Kunnathunad villages has been completed. Once the development project is completed, Infopark will have 80-lakh sq ft space. The development projects are being planned in a way that the medium-segment companies also benefit from them. Of the 2,500 crore, the government will spend `450 crore while `2,050 crore is expected to be invested by IT companies and other entrepreneurs, Jijo said.
“During the past five years, the software export from Infopark grew four fold. In 2007-2008, the export value was `247.05 crore. In the last fiscal year, the export value touched `900 crore. The office space has also increased from 5.30 lakh square ft to 34 lakh sq ft. The total area of Infopark will be extended to 50 lakh in the next three years,” he said.
Infopark Cherthala, which was commissioned in January 2011, provides employment opportunities for 1,000 professionals. The project needs an investment of `75 crore, excluding land value. The Koratty Infopark has created employment opportunities for 400 professionals.

Its Official, COGNIZANT'S 15 Acre campus in Infopark Phase II
Quote:
India's 3rd largest IT company, Cognizant will be the 1st co-developer in the Infopark Phase II project.
Cognizant will build their own campus in the alloted 15 acres of land in the Phase II project.
With this, Infopark will have own campuses of TCS (U/C) & Wipro(both Phase I) & Cognizant.

Infopark has requested more co-developers to invest in their phase II project. A meeting has been convened by CREDAI Kochi on the same.

The speciality in the phase II constructions is the presence of a Football Stadium. Even though, aimed for IT professionals, it will have all the facilities for a Standard Football Stadium.

Infopark is not able to deliver the requests by various companies due to space constraints. So, the construction of phase II is moving at a fast pace. The 4.5 lack sq ft 1st IT-BPO building will start construction this month end. The 2nd building will start its construction as soon as the 1st is completed.

The current road connectivity, I believe, will have to go as it falls under Smart City area.... May be a new one is required.... But to be honest, you require a Desert Bike or Toyota Rav4 to reach this site in its shortest way, as the area is too uneven, too narrow and filled with some sort of slippery lose soil over a rocky substance.... Last time, my car got struck there and I need to call guys Brahamapuram area to help me lift from a big point down.....
