Brno/Brünn - [Czech Republic]

Brno is one of my most favorite cities in Central Europe because of its youth lifestyle and appropriate size for everyone .. the city is not too big, but also not too small. Brno lies near the confluence of rivers Svratka and Svitava and is historical capital of bohemian region of Morava . Today is Brno pulsating and modern city with approximately 400 000 inhabitants, the second most populous city in Czech Republic. Brno is hometown of many institutions and universities such as Masaryk University, where attending students from Czech Republic, Slovakia and other european countries. Brno and whole region of South Morava is very attractive for emmigrants from Eastern Europe because of its high economical and cultural stage of development, South Morava is the most prosperous region in Czech Republic after Prague.

The most interesting monuments in Brno are castle Spielberg, Cathedral of St. Paul and Peter on Petrov hill, villa Tugendhat -jewel of functionalist architectury and many other ...

Wow, wonderful photos of Brno. I regret that I did not visit it yet, but, hopefully, I will correct it in near future.

Thank u guys for positive comments, I'm so glad that u enjoy my photos

I made some photos from residential area Lišen from perifery of Brno. I think, residential quarters and blocks from communistic period are in Brno and in all ex-Czechoslovakia on relatively high level in comparision with similar constructions from other EE countries. In Brno are all commieblock areas in very good connection with city centre thanks to fast tram systems and good infrastructure.

Lovely and beautiful city and great pictures (but what happened with the colours?)
We're planning to visit Brno during our trip to the Slovak and Czech Republics. Do you know if there are direct train connections between Brno and Bratislava?
Anyway, keep them coming!

Of course, Brno is situated on rail corridor Budapest-Bratislava-Prague, so there is many direct trains, especially, in the morning and afternoon. If u want to check accurate data on departures and arrivals of trains, just go to web-site of Slovak Railway Company www.zsr.sk or Czech Railways www.cd.cz
