Glad to know that Belo Horizonte is with this reputation as a pleasant city. And it really is! One of the most pleasant to live in Brazil.

I also like. It is an unusual architecture in BH. I met this building recently and really enjoyed it.

Belo Horizonte is a hospitable city... Its people are so welcoming, discrete, mysterious, even for me although I'm one of them... lol

Wow! That is a large & very populated city. Great photos.

I take it that most city dwellers in Belo Horizonte live in apartments??

Belo Horizonte (also known as "BH") really is a very populated city.... It's the third brazilian metropolis in population, only smaller than our two global cities: Rio de Janeiro and SŃo Paulo....

The population of BH metropolis is about 5 million, while Rio de Janeiro has about 12 million and SŃo Paulo has about 20 million inhabitants in the metropolitan area... The fourth brazilian metropolis in population is Porto Alegre, with about 4 million inhabitants...

I also think that most BH dwellers live in apartments, and I am one of them.

In Brazil the cities were planned to be dense, probably because the most of the population weren't used to have cars in the last century... But this is changing very fast and today there's a lot of cars in the streets, what is making our transit a mess, as you can see in this photo:

I believe it is 50% or so. In BH, the most traditional families with many children, usually live in houses. But young couples with few children (or without children), students, single people or students, living in apartments. There are some wealthier neighborhoods where large families live in apartments only. In this case, the size of the apartment is proportional of family size (and her fortune). This neighborhood is an example and is called Belvedere:

A simple apartment in this neighborhood exceeds $ 1 million, somewhat high for Brazilian standards.

Thank you for comment!!

No, Porto Alegre is the top major city in Brazil in that respect, where about 45% of the inhabitants live in appartments. I believe in Belo Horizonte the number is about one third.
