PART VI
Tossa de Mar: New Town

Having now seen the Old Town, the New Town is actually quite old in itself. The narrow streets continue albeit busier with an abundance of small shops, restaurants and bars as well as cute squares faced with churches. Here also lies the beach where I enjoyed 3-4 hours of sunning on one of the few sunny days we had on our 10 day trip to Spain.

Fantastic. Are you going to set up a thread of Barcelona? If so, looking forward to it. I didn't go inside the Sagrada Familia this time as the queues were horrendously long, but thanks for the link!
Hi Mike, Yes I'll do that once I figure it all out. I have a wealth of images of Barca to share.

Still loving this seaside town. Oh, how I wish I were there right now!

I still haven't gotten over my trip to Barcelona. I keep hoping I will find a US version so I can move there. But, it doesn't exist.

As nice as places along the US coast can be, there just aren't places like Tossa de Mar to be found anywhere. The Old Town, in particular, has a very 'back in time' feel about it when you walk around it.

New update coming very shortly!

Thanks. I appreciate that but I thought it would be better to share them here than make a new thread just for them. You're right, Tossa de Mar is in the Girona province but it was part of my trip to Barcelona. I hope you enjoy the next batch of Barcelona pictures.

PART VIII
La Rambla: Rambla de Santa Monica

Continuing along La Rambla, in Barcelona itself, the final leg of La Rambla is that of Santa Monica.

After Plaça Sant Jaume, a walk back to La Rambla itself is done via the beautiful Plaça Reial - perhaps Barcelona's answer to Plaza Mayor in other Spanish cities. It's a delightful square in which I had dinner later that day. From there, one joins La Rambla and as it widens slightly on its lower half, the bottom of the promenade appears ahead with the harbourside beyond.

Remarkable pictures of Barcelona.

I love the dichotomies of this city: the narrow gothic alleys and the Haussmann like boulevards, the beaches and the mountains, modern and ancient architecture.

Visiting this city must be a unique experience.

Muito obrigado!

I couldn't agree more. Barcelona comprises so many styles of Europe as well as its own style in one metropolis. My two favourite cities in Spain are Madrid and Barcelona but for very different reasons! You'll see from the next update how the port area takes on another appearance altogether.
