Two months after the Temple Entry Proclamation, Mahatma Gandhi arrived in Trivandrum on January 12, 1937, to participate in celebrations over an event for which he had exerted much moral pressure. He had come “as a humble pilgrim to offer congratulations to the Maharaja,” Gandhiji told a large, cheering crowd that had gathered at the Thampanoor Maidan, facing the railway station, to receive him. The welcome address was presented to him. The next day, he addressed a public meeting at the Military Parade ground. Photo: The Hindu Archives

The Famous "Ammachi Plavu" @Neyyattinkara

Quote:
Neyyattinkara is an ancient town, situated about 20 km south-east of Thiruvananthapuram. The Sree Krishna Swami temple, founded by King Marthanda Varma (1729 -1758), is of historical importance. The temple is situated beside the bank of Neyyar River. In the premises of the temple, there is a historic jack tree, known as Ammachi Plavu (അമ്മച്ചിപ്ലാവ്), in the hollow of which Marthanda Varma is believed to have hid himself and escaped death at the hands of his enemies.

CSN Stadium in 1960. You can see the old, Kerala style palayam mosque and the war memorial.

War memorial now (2012)

University College

Photograph taken about 1900 by the Government photographer, Zacharias D'Cruz of what is now called the University College at Trivandrum, during Lord Curzon's visit to the Travancore State. It is one of 76 prints in an album entitled 'Album of South Indian Views' of the Curzon Collection. George Nathaniel Curzon was Under Secretary of State at the Foreign Office between 1895-98 and Viceroy of India between 1898-1905. The building was completed and occupied in 1873 with John Ross of the Edinburgh University as Principal. When the B. A. classes were opened there was provision to teach only one Optional Branch, viz., Philosophy. Another branch , Mathematics and Natural Philosophy was added in 1879. A chair of advanced chemistry was established in 1884, and another for History in 1900.
