You are right, the stations are horribly bad in embellishment, and the color scheme of gray & dirty brown for the CAF trains looks like something the cat dragged in. But in practicality, my first test ride with this line leads to a clear thumbs up. Paths from street level to platforms are straight forward with no excessive length, as most other recent Istanbul lines demonstrate. Location of stations are convenient, and integration with other lines is at optimum, offering great speed advantages for example for those traveling from Üsküdar or Ümraniye districts to the historical peninsula. So do not concentrate on the bad images, believe me, it is really a useful metro and it is already widely accepted by locals in those parts of town.
