Milan in five hours

Recently I did some travelling in that part of Europe and had a very brief visit to Milan which lasted only a few hours. It was basically a walk from Milano Centrale railway station to the Cathedral and back. It surely wasn't enough to see the city properly but there is always the next time.

Map

Anyway, here are those photos which I managed to take.

1. Trenitalia ETR 500 in Milano Centrale. One of the Italian HSR trains

2.

3. Exit from the station

4. Milano Centrale station. This was the very first place I did see in Milan and despite clearly suggesting the grandeur of the city it was a rather shady loacation with all kinds of people watching you and even more so you pockets and bags. It's best to be watchful

5. Pirelli Tower (Grattacielo Pirelli). 127m tall high-rise building built in 1960m. To this day it is one of the main modern landmarks of Milano. However new taller, sexier and certainly more beautiful skyscrapers are rising next door. Milan is going taller which is always a good thing.

6. Via Vittor Pisani street leading from the Centrale station area towards the old city

7. Porta Nuova Garibaldi. A new 231m tall skyscraper nearly complete in Porta Nuova development zone which is going to be a rather solid and visually impressive high-rise cluster near the Pirelli Tower and Centrale station

Milan looks completely different from the Southern Italy with which Im quite familiar by now - spacious and modern. A place to see!

Will there be more shots?

Yes, definitely, more photos are coming.
Milan is certainly a modern and very prosperous city.

Milano Centrale - Duomo is a short walk.

Five metro stations (Centrale - Repubblica - Turati - Montenapoleone - Duomo).

Two kilometres?

You've missed many other things during your visit.

But it's a nice walk through nice streets. You've noticed also viale della Liberazione with under construction skyscrapers and via Monte Napoleone with its expensive boutique. (And the lovely streetcars ).

Ciao!

Thanks, joga. I know I missed alot. You can't explore Milan in a few hours. My choice, however, was nothing or few hours. So I had to go for the few hours.
