The new international terminal is a similar looking structure on the far left (not seen on the picture). The new domestic & international terminals are sandwitched in between by the current terminal building. Hopefully it will be knocked down and the released space will be used for future expansion of the two new terminals

There is a plan to build new airport at Sriperumbadur, 45 km from Chennai.

The new site is 45 kms from the city on the Bangalore road and has no rail connectivity. It will be a problem.

Yes there will be a problem. More than 90 percent of the airports do not have rail connectivity. Major airports like Mumbai do not have rail connectivity.

Some where in the forum I read that there are plans for the metro rail to be extended till Sriperumbudur. I dont know how far the plans have gone.
Orakadam and Sridperumbudur are future hubs of Chennai and I am sure rail connectivity will happen in the future.

What is a progress on construction of a new international terminal. I was on the old one 2 months ago and the work seemed not to be enough fast.
