WARSAW | Adventure World Warsaw

Adventure World Warsaw

Las Palm is set to build the biggest theme park & resort in central Europe.
The park will be located in Grodzisk Mazowiecki (30-minute travelling distance from Warsaw).

Investor: Las Palm
Design: AGS Architects
Costs: 598.2 mio. €
Area: 230 ha
Construction: 2012-2015
Homepage - http://www.adventureworldwarsaw.com/park-en/

What is AWW?

Adventure World Warsaw will provide a unique guest experience combining a world-class destination resort with over 50 guest experiences including surprising theme park attractions, Poland’s largest one-of-a-kind indoor Water Park - The Aqua Dome, as well as an exciting urban center – the Entertainment Village, incorporating large-scale, well known branded shopping and dining, and top tier entertainment offerings. Also included on the property will be two spectacular themed hotels hosting over 800 well-appointed rooms, elaborate culinary delights and full conference and meeting facilities.

Located just outside the capital city, visitors will enter the theme park using a passage under the Grand Resort Hotel. Guest’s first experience of AWW will be Adventure Harbour including a thriving bazaar filled with shops, restaurants and attractions. The theme park itself will consist of five lands that will delight and emotionally connect with the entire family. A variety of fun-filled state-of-the-art attractions will be available in each land, all in an amazing scenery of fairy tales and legends including super coasters, elaborately themed indoor rides, water slide spectaculars and wave pools, interactive fountains, boat cruises and carousels.

Passing through the portals of Adventure Harbour, you will enter the LOST KINGDOM, where guests watch spectacular high fall stunts and interact in a 5D theater. Upon leaving Lost Kingdom, you enter OLD POLAND, where the architecture is reminiscent of Poland’s past and storybook characters bring folklore back to life. CREATURE LAGOON, the most youthful land of them all, where “kids” of all ages will interact with mythical creatures who love to have fun and play pranks on guests. From there you can experience the LAND OF LEGENDS reflecting ancient civilizations and heavily themed Mayan and Egyptian architecture with thrilling high-adrenaline roller coasters and shows. And the adventure continues as you explore CASTLE ISLAND and meet the likes of Merlin and fearless dragons while experiencing King Arthur’s River Ride before you take off on a magic broomstick.

Area of the park

Adventure World Warsaw will be located on an area of total 230 ha, divided into two investment phases. Stage one will cover an area of 106 ha. The next phase, including another theme park and hotels, is planned for the years 2016-2020. In excess of 2.6 mln guests are expected to visit the park in the first operational year with a growth factor of 3% in years two through five.

Location

One of AWW’s greatest advantages is its perfect location in Grodzisk Mazowiecki, almost in the center of the country between two of Poland’s largest cities approx. 19 miles west of Warsaw (the capital of Poland and its largest city) and approx. 56 miles from Lodz (the third largest Polish city). The newly opened A2 highway is adjacent to the AWW resort. A population of almost 20 million resides within a four-hour drive of the resort. There are three airports in the vicinity: Fryderyk Chopin Airport in Warsaw, Modlin Airport and Wladyslaw Reymont Airport in Lodz. A suburban and newly modernized train from Warsaw arrives almost at the gates of AWW, allowing for easy access for resort visitors.

What AWW means for Poland

Adventure World Warsaw Project will support the development of local infrastructure in the park’s surrounding and will add to numerous activities aimed at promoting Poland worldwide. The investment will use modern systems which reduce energy consumption and CO2 emission. The company also plans to expand the sewer system and sewage treatment and improve efficiency of water-supply network within the Grodzisk commune. The project will support the development of public transportation and will help to develop the existing connection between Grodzisk Mazowiecki and Warsaw. The AWW project will develop the Polish economy, among other by creating many new workplaces. The park itself will create over 3000 jobs and provide a robust economic environment for the surrounding area which will result in thousands of corresponding jobs. Cooperation with local authorities is guaranteed by the Municipal Council and District Office, who are fully and professionally supporting the implementation and development of the AWW project.

“Our project is financed by a consortium of international banks that are in the top 25 of such institutions worldwide,” Peter Jan Mulder, CEO of the project’s investor, Las Palm, told Parkiet.

He declined to reveal any names.

Adventure World Warsaw has been designed as a mix of a theme park, an indoor water park and entertainment village. It will feature hotels, restaurants and other leisure services on a single site.

Work begins on 'Polish Disneyland'

Construction on Europe's largest adventure park was officially launched on Saturday near Grodzisk Mazowiecki, south west of the capital.

Adventure World Warsaw will cover approximately 230 hectares, and the budget for construction has been estimated at 2.5 billion zloty (about 598.2 million euro).
When work is finished, visitors will find rollercoasters, restaurants, shops, bars and hotels, as well as Poland's biggest aquapark.
The project is being realised by the Las Palm company, headed by Dutch businessman Jan Mulder.
Speaking to Polish Radio, he explained why he had chosen Poland as the site for the park.
“Poland offers great opportunities,” he said.
“This is virgin territory when it comes to business,” he added, alluding to the ongoing transformation of the Polish economy since the collapse of communism in 1989.
“Our research shows that Poles are interested in this kind of entertainment, and that they travel across the world to visit such parks,” he said.
Although the project has often been dubbed “the Polish Disneyland”, the creators are keen to stress that the park will not be just a copy of the American model.
Thematically, the Polish enterprise will explore myths and legends from across the globe, from Slavic to Ancient Egyptian.
Some 3000 people should find employment at the park, and Las Palm hopes to welcome 2.5 million visitors per year.
Mulder has high hopes that the complex should open its doors in 2015.

Adventure World Warsaw starts construction

Construction on what is being called the largest amusement park investment in Poland and Easter Europe has begun today near Warsaw in Poland. Adventure World Warsaw, first introduced in July 2011, will feature five themed lands and offer 50 different kinds of activities. A total of 24 rides and coasters will be integrated into the park, along with shows, themed restaurants and shops and more. Two themed hotels with a total of 800 rooms will be included.

Jan Mulder, President of Adventure World Warsaw Parks & Resorts.

The park will build on different myths and legends from around the world, featured in five themed areas called Adventure Harbor, Lagoon Creature, Castle Island, Land of Legends, Lost Kingdom and Polish Square. The total park surface is expected to cover around 240 hectares. Park developers compare the park's size and capacity to the UK's Alton Towers or The Netherland's Efteling Park.

A three-dimensional model of Warsaw Adventure World and Resort was presented at a press conference in Warsaw, where Peter Jan Mulder, President of Adventure World Warsaw Parks & Resorts (AWW), presented the project. "More than 100 of the most creative and recognized directors, managers and professionals from amusement parks joined us to co-create this ambitious project" said Mulder. "Adventure World Warsaw will be a completely new brand and also a new quality in the entertainment industry, which will win hearts of families with children and young people. I am convinced that at the time of opening in 2015, AWW will come to the forefront the most visited theme parks in the world. "
"The Concept of AWW, which are an important part of local historical and cultural highlights, will help to promote Polish in the world and encourage inbound tourism as the most visited by tourists in Central and Eastern Europe, while acting in a strong impetus to further economic development in the region" added Steven Shaiken, Managing Director and Executive AWW. "It's an investment on a scale hitherto unknown in this part of the continent, through which rise thousands of new jobs in the local and international tourism industry."

Guests will pass through the Grand Hotel to enter the park where they will walk into Adventure Harbor, a bustling market full of shops, restaurants and other attractions. Having passed through this area, guests will enter the first themed land - the Lost Kingdom, followed by Polish Square - a place where Warsaw's old town is reproduced in park and builds on Polish folklore.

Partners in the park's development include AGS Architects, Imtech, JoraVision, Tebodin, Vekoma Rides Manufacturing and Hafema. Developers expect 2.6 million guests in the first year (2015) and more than 4.6 million after the first ten years (2024).
