Obiously I meant just railroad routes, not tracks!
So some old railstation buildings are in use again for Metro now?

Sorry!!

I didn`t know if you were talking about the tracks or the railroad routes!!

Yes, i think that all of the old railroad stations were recovered for public use on the Line B & C between Sra. da Hora-Póvoa de Varzim & ISMAI, as you can see on the photos 40, 41, 50, and specially on photo 52 and 61 of the previous page!!

Just got back from Porto and Lisbon.

Great "light metro" in Porto although I found it difficult to buy tickets. The zone and title options really confused me.

Yes and No!!

The new vehicle that you see was only put on the Porto `s Tram Museum for exhibition before of the inauguration of The Porto`s Subway (December 2002)!!

The old vehicle that you see on the right side of the image is the electric (in portuguese) / bonde (in brazilian) and they were very use till the mid 80`s, in 2001 with the 2001 Porto European Capital of Culture, the city reconstructed several tram lines that had disappeared.

Responding to your question, nowadays there are 3 commercial lines more mainly used by tourists, and there are several vehicles already reconstructed, being reconstructed, and some went for U.S.A. (San Francisco, Philadelphia), an Italy and i think Brazil!!

It may not be the same tram... Could be the same shape, but not the same "number", if you understand me

It seems that the government takes over the 200.000.000 euro debt of Porto metro:

http://www.jn.pt/paginainicial/pais/...ent_id=1906065

What surprised me in the above article is the relatively low ridership of Porto metro: only 160.000 passengers per day.

That actually seems quite high, given the size of the Metro Area and the fact that it's a LRT system with several branches with (relatively) low frequency.
