Thanks for the pics, TCR! (and I hope you don't mind my abbreviating your name). Anyway, here are more dismal reminders of the horrors of war on our beloved Manila:

Santa Cruz district from the air during the period of reconstruction after 1945

You know what Manila had a decent "skyline" back then. Intramuros de Manila looks so organized in those photos. I just wish we could find photos that are pre-war. I know it exist but its a waste that its somewhere in some archive and not being used or taught to the Filipinos.

Hawayano, thanks for sharing more photos. You have a very comprehensive knowledge of pre-war Manila. Would you by any chance know the exact location of "Plaza Lunch" on Plaza Goiti?

Hmm...now that boggles me a bit--I'll have to check my old pamphlets and publications. I'm getting it confused with Tom's Dixie Kitchen. I do know an old timer who did business throughout the Orient pre-war, and maybe I'll ask him when I visit his antique shop. Will keep you posted on that. Thanks again, and I continue praying for Mrs. TCR's recovery.

Wonderboy, if you travel back through time.. Remember, there's a Japanese checkpoint at Calle Aduana, you might want to circle around so you wouldn't have to bow to the sentry..
He heh...thanks for the reminder TCR! Great job again on the photo compariosn and now, it comes with a sequence from a video clip!
