I know U/C pa rin sya. Pero nagtataka lang ako, nawala yung fan page account ng Ayuntamiento sa Facebook. Hindi na tuloy ako makakita ng updates dun.

the irony of having such a gorgeous building in the wrong side of the walls. would have been great next to Luneta Hotel...

Im not really familiar with Intramuros, but does the site next to Luneta Hotel offers such view? Coz this skydeck and its view is one of the main attractions of BayLeaf Hotel. And if i may ask, why is it considered to be located in a wrong place?

i would have preferred intramuros restoring its old structures much like warsaw is doing. manila is a lost cause, but there's still hope for intramuros.

also, in the second last picture, you can see the luneta hotel.

imo it won't have the same spectacular view as the present location offers considering the bay leaf's height and the surrounding buildings. another advantage of its present location is that it is assured of unobstructed 360-degree view of intramuros and other surrounding areas (rizal park, fort santiago, manila city hall, port area, quiapo, post office, sta. cruz, etc) for a long time since there are height restrictions for new structures within intramuros.

The Bayleaf hotel is a hideous monstrosity. WRONG scale, WRONG location, WRONG interpretation of colonial Spanish architecture. What were they thinking?????

The building is nice but is somewhat out of place because of its height and the style does not conform to the history of intramuros. Anyway, They still did a good job compare to the old building that used to stand in its place.

Just my two cents.

We should not benchmark on what's there before, but rather on the true standards. If we keep on compromising, we would reduce all our built heritage to the appearance of some Disneyland. By then, Intramuros would truly be a lost cause.

Anyway masarap yung churros nya sa Chocolat coffee shop at the ground floor. Often see many foreign tourists having snacks there. If only IA can keep the place clean and teach the students not to throw rubbish everywhere.
