yup ang alam ko Alikaraw ang 2006 champion sa Kasadyaan last year. natalo pa nila ang padul-ong festival na laging sumasali sa cebu sinulog. mga dancers ng padul-ong mga taga karasikas dance troupe ang mga yan.

hopefully, pag na approve leave ko, ill b in tacloban june29-jul1 for the pintados kasadyaan festival

kaya nga u rember last time i asked u if hilongos joins sinulog. i listened to their music. konting modification pwede na sila mag compete sa cebu. im sure they do well in cebu. talo nga nila karasikas, tapos nag 3rd pa sila sa Aliwan. i jaz wish matuloy ako sa june. id love to see them perform sa pintados kasadyaan in tacloban.

Dinagyang to continue joining Aliwan Fiesta

Dinagyang executive director Ben Jimena said Iloilo City's Dinagyang Festival will still join next year's Aliwan Fiesta in Manila although it did not win this year's top prize.

Jimena said the yearly competition is a venue for the city to promote the festival. The Dinagyang festival has been invited to perform in different areas in the country because of their exposure in the Aliwan Fiesta.

Jimena, who is also the City Tourism Office chief said though, the crown for the best festival is very elusive to the Dinagyang Festival and yet Iloilo remains a favorite among the crowd. The yells and cheers of the spectators will always give the tribe the strength, honor and pride to perform in different cities, Jimena said.

The Dinagyang Festival which is represented by Tribu Ilonganon of the Jalandoni Memorial National High School got the second place while Sinulog of Cebu retained the title as the best festival in the Aliwan Fiesta competition for the dance parade.

It is the Dinagyang Festival that sets the mood and style of presentation in the Aliwan Fiesta. And only the Dinagyang Festival was able to perform in the SM Mall of Asia. It makes a difference among the different festivals in the country.

For the past two years, the choreography and presentation at the Aliwan Fiesta were either like the performances seen during the Kasadyahan and ati competition or Dinagyang proper. Performers also bring along with them a Sto. Nino image and dressed like a native Aeta.

In the reported misjudgment, Jimena said the decision of the judges is final. They could not question on how the judges rated the contestants. He, however, asked the organizers to research the judges and their affiliation to all the competing tribes.

The information on misjudgment in the recent Aliwan Fiesta emanated after two of the judges assigned in the Star City were allegedly consultants and choreographers of the Sinulog Festival. The judges came from the National Commission for Culture and Arts.

to put it bluntly, nag suntukan sila dun.

pero honestly.. this regional has been bringing us down, and not up. it divides us instead of uniting everyone.

it's kinda sad, that while im working hard for the promotion of theses festivals, making money out of the photosgraphs of their performances.... here they are, nag suntukan sa Santiago City, Isabela (not isabela city sa previous post )

One way to bring nationalism is to use regionalism by the way. They are opposites but we can use that. All we need is respect.

Now, if there are some people who will ride on this, they are not helping their hometowns at all.

i've seen sinulog and dinagyang... both were nice... its a matter of personal choice... let's just respect the judges' decision... the people had seen both contingents perform, whether they'd prefer to go to cebu or iloilo will not be affected so much by the judges' decision because from what they've seen they could tell what they'd want to see again next time... in fairness to cebu, sinulog is definitely great... of course we can't expect their choroegraphy to be as aggressive and as wild as dinagyang's because the two festivals are different from each other.. and we should be proud of their differences, they add variety to our culture... people simply have to visit both places because there's always something to watch for in those both festivals... this goes the same with other festivals.....

diba sila din ang Lumad mandawehanon before? i can still remember nag compete sila sa 2005 masskara 1st runner up sila pero talo sila last year dun.

If you're in Cebu, the Aliwan Fiesta is being played again and again on Bee TV channel 14 (SkyCable). I would have wanted to tape it and upload it here but its time consuming and tedious. If I were to be asked an opinion though, without bias, masasabi kong deserving talaga ang Sinulog contingent dahil it was a simple yet colorful performance tapos synchronized talaga, sabay-sabay lahat ng galaw ng mga dancers. 'Yung Dinagyang naman, talagang maganda, ang gagara ng mga props at costumes pero medyo kulang sa execution at synchronization. That's just my opinion based on what I saw
