For those who do not know, the title of this thread is a part (in english) of music of the Lô Borges, a member of the Clube da Esquina (Street Corner's Club, in free translation), one of the biggest musical movements of Brazilian popular music, originating in the BH. I will not put the video here, but those interested can listen to music by clicking this link.

The thread is short, only 35 photographs, and consists of a photo the other day and night; simultaneously. The daytime photos were taken from a observatory of Raja Gabaglia Avenue and a Belvedere neighborhood. The night photos were all taken from the viewpoint of the Mangabeiras neighborhood.

Really!!

Although Belo Horizonte (BH) is much smaller than São Paulo (SP), I think that it's the city which looks like most with SP all over the world, because it combines the brazillian architecture and the seas of highrises, just like SP... Maybe, BH and SP are the only two cities in the world which combines these two features... I really don't know another brazillian city which has these seas of highrises in this level...

Congratulations for this marvelous thread!! It shows BH just like the real Brazil is, with wealth and poverty living side by side...

In spite of its problems (that every big city has), Belo Horizonte is fantastic!! So cozy, charming, warm, cosmopolitam and hospitable. It will be the host city of the semi-final match in the 2014 world Cup.

Charles, I guess this thread should be posted in the "urban showcase" link, because the photos were taken by you... Anyway, I'm not sure about it...

I hope one day you can make a thread showing street level photos and the inhabitants of this beautiful city... I can't do this because I don't have such a good equipment like yours.

nice pictures. the stone jungle of highrises and the jungle of 1-2-storey houses... i am wondering is there an empty space for breathing between of them? parks, may be?

Yes, BH is the Brazilian city that looks more like Sao Paulo, despite being smaller (5 million people in Belo Horizonte compared to 20 million in São Paulo).

Despite all the problems, the city is a wonderful metropolis, rich, dynamic, cosmopolitan, and their quality of life is above the national level, edging closer to some U.S cities.
