SRI CITY’S READY FACTORIES

The most recent investment by a Japanese company was that of Isuzu Motors which is planning to set up shop in Sri City. Over 15 Japanese companies are present including engineering and auto components companies such as NHK Springs, Kusakabe, PIolax, Imop, Aisan, Unicharm (manufacturer of hygiene products). The investments, including that of Isuzu Motors, will be close to Rs 2,500 crore.

Sri City is also keen on attracting small and medium enterprises and has launched ready-built factories in sizes of 5,000, to 20,000 sq feet. Over 20 acres of such factory buildings will be ready for lease in the next two years. The Japanese are known for their penchant for golf and Sri City plans to establish an 18-hole golf course and build golf villas. Soon to follow are Japanese restaurants. It will also have a Japanese language institute. The idea is to make the Japanese working in Sri City as comfortable as possible.

This is to submit that there is a long pending demand for the formation of a 5Km long link road from Seshaiahgunta near Adaram Village to UBBALAMADUGU Eco-tourist centre Water Falls in Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh. The Panchayathraj Sub-division, Thottambedu have prepared an estimate for about Rs 3.6 crores about 2 decades ago which has to be revised in the light of new developments and the present scenario. This link road if completed under RIDF would facilitate the promotion of tourism around UBBALAMADUGU, Kalangi reservoir, Sadasiva Kona, Veyyilingala Kona, Gudimallam, Kalki Bhagawan Ashram, Kailasagiri Reservoir, Ubalamadugu reservoir apart from serving as the shortest and fastest link between Sricity SEZ where IIIT is establishing it’s second centre and Renigunta International Airport, Tirupati. Most of these places of pilgrim and tourist importance have already been included under the proposed heritage corridor sanctioned by Govt. of India recently along with the famous Pulicat Lake and Bird Sanctuary. The natural springs and water falls in UBBALAMADUGU , Ruins of British Bunglow and the 100 year old granite stair case and Siddulaiah temple attract thousands of tourists from the neighbouring Tamilnadu State. The alignment of the link road has to be redrawn taking into consideration of the formation of the new tank near Ubbalamadugu and estimated afresh. The distance between the Renigunta Airport and Sricity SEZ shall be reduced drastically to just 50 Km (Via) Kailasagiri Reservoir and Musilipedu with this link road. K.V.B.Puram Mandal which has been included in Sathyavedu assembly constituency shall have a direct and shortest link to the constituency head quarters at Sathyavedu. In view of the upcoming Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor it is very much essential to form this link road from Adaram to Ubbalamadugu Water Falls via Nereduchelama at the earliest to keep in tune with the fast emerging scenario. This will transform the economy of about 50 gram panchayaths in Varadayyapalem ,B.N.Kandriga, Thottambedu ,Yerpedu and Renigunta mandals and will be a boon to the Heritage corridor also . Hence it is hereby prayed that your kind self may be pleased to instruct the concerned authorities to take the latest developments into consideration and initiate steps to execute the formation of this link road under RIDF/tourism at the earliest in coordination with the Tourism, Wild life management circle, Tirupati for the kind act of which the people of this part of the country would be grateful to your kind self throughout their lives.

Sricity SEZ promoters should use their good offices and PR wing to get this link road from Seshaiahgunta ST colony to Ubbalamadugu sanctioned with funds from Tourism through Sri K.Chiranjeevi, union minister for tourism and Metro rail link from Kanipakam to Pulicat lake via Tirupati, Srikalahasthi and Sricity SEZ as corporate social responsibility towards the people in and around their successful Sricity SEZ.

CHENNAI, MAY 16:
Chennai-headquartered Tecpro Systems Ltd has entered into an agreement with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Mechatronics Systems Ltd (MHI) of Japan for technology for manufacturing electro-static precipitators (ESPs) for thermal power projects.

With MHI technology, Tecpro will make the ESPs at its Rs 25-crore plant that is coming up in the Sri City industrial estate near Chennai. The tie-up could potentially result in business prospects of about Rs 500 crore a year, Tecpro Systems’ Chairman and Managing Director, Ajay Kumar Bishnoi, told Business Line today.

Electrostatic precipitators are nothing new in India —all coal-based thermal power projects here are equipped with them.

These are needed to trap and remove particulate matter from the exhaust gases from boilers. So what makes MHI technology any different?

Arvind Bishnoi, Director at Tecpro, observed that there were two major advantages to MHI technology. Typically, an ESP system costs Rs 50 crore. With MHI, the costs would be significantly lower and the size of the equipment much smaller. Second, emissions from their ESP systems will be contained well within the 30 mg/cubic nm norm.

Tecpro mainly offers coal and ash handling systems for thermal power projects. It also provides full ‘balance of plant’ solutions on turnkey basis. In 2012-13, the company was able to book orders worth Rs 2,552 crore. It has orders on hand of around Rs 4,000 crore.

The Sri City plant would be production-ready in a few months and Tecpro Systems has started offering its products from here. It has, for instance, participated in an NTPC tender for two plants of 800 MW each in the Garadwara project.

This is, incidentally, the second tie-up that the Japanese major has entered into with an Indian company recently.

Last month, MHI signed a similar technology agreement with public sector power equipment major BHEL for imparting know-how to make flue-gas desulphurisation systems for power projects.

Chennai’s first train to arrive from Brazil in June

Four cars will be assembled and a four-month long testing process will begin followed by a test run in Koyambedu

Quote:
The city is all set to receive its first Metro Rail train from Brazil, in the first week of June.

Four cars of the train have been shipped from Brazil and are en-route to Chennai Port. Officials of Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) said the train was shipped from Brazil during the last week of April.

“It will reach Chennai by the end of May or first week of June. From the port, the cars will be transported via a trailer to the depot in Koyambedu,” an official said.

The four cars will then be assembled and a four-month long testing process will begin. A test track is now being prepared in Koyambedu.

This was the first train for Chennai manufactured at Alstom Transport’s plant in Lapa, Sao Paulo. The company has signed a contract to supply 42 trains to CMRL.

A total of nine trains are being manufactured in Brazil, while the other 33 trains will be manufactured at Sri City plant, Alstom’s first rolling stock factory in India, located in Andhra Pradesh.

The other eight trains will be completed and sent from Brazil in phases, the official said.

According to Alstom Transport, the four-car stainless steel train features electrically-operated automatic sliding doors, a large gangway, air-conditioning, dedicated space for passengers with reduced mobility, a route map in English and Tamil, LED displays and announcements as well as luggage racks.

The four-car train will have a total seating and standing capacity of 1,276. “On an average, each car will have 44 seats including dedicated seats for persons with disabilities and senior citizens,” a CMRL official said.

He added: “Work on laying the track and electrical work will soon be completed for the test run, which will be conducted on the elevated Koyambedu–St. Thomas Mount line as and when each portion is completed.”

The Research Designs and Standards Organisation will also certify the trains before they are commissioned. The government had announced in the State assembly that the first Metro line would be commissioned in mid-2014, the official said.

Chennai’s Metro Rail project consists of two corridors – a 23.1 km line from Washermanpet to the airport and a 22 km line from Chennai Central to St. Thomas Mount.

Metro raile than venuma? Indha Sub-urb, MRTS, theepandham,...

Boss, asking Metro line because Coaches are made at SriCity is too much. If at all they plan fast train, they will take Tirutani/Puttur/Tirupati line. The Tada-Kalahasti-Tirupati portion is full of hills, so forget getting a train.

COIMBATORE: Japanese automobile major IsuzuBSE -1.82 % Motors is expected to start commercial production of its MU-7 SUV and DMax pick-up trucks in India at its Andhra Pradesh facility in 2016, a top company official said today.

After the launch of its SUV and the truck in the market, Toru Kishimoto, General Manager (Sales division), said the company has recently signed an MOU to set up a plant at Sri City in Hyderabad. The soft launch of the vehicles was already done in Hyderabad a few days ago at the International Industrial Trade Fair.

The sprawling 100 acre land would have the facility to manufacture both the vehicles and become fully functional by early 2016, he said, adding DMax truck would be manufactured at a location in Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh, bordering Tamil Nadu.

Till then the company will import vehicles from Thailand. From the next year onwards, it would start assembling at another facility to be set up at Oragadam near Chennai in Tamil Nadu, Kishimoto said.

Priced at Rs 27.5 lakh and Rs 7.2 lakh for MU-7 and DMax, respectively, the company is yet to decide on the strategy as far as the Indian market is concerned, he said.

He added that India is a very huge market for these types of vehicles and the company would definitely capture a good market share in the coming years.

Chennai, June 16:

The Chennai School of Business Excellence, to be set up by the CBS Trust, which was established in 2007, has set up a campus in Sri City, the integrated business city in Tada near here.

The school has come up on an area of around three acres (which is a part of a 10-acre plot) and will be operational next month, when classes are expected to commence. So far, the parent, Chennai Business School, has been operating out of a building in Velachery, offering one-year programmes.

The Sri City EPZ is spread over 6,000 acres and hosts several large multinational companies such as Kobelco, Colgate-Palmolive, Alstom and Lavazza.

CSBE will offer two-year AICTE-approved PGDM courses with a dual specialisation – one vertical (functional) and one horizontal (industry) specialisation. Every student will specialise in one of the three areas: finance, human resources and marketing. The student will also specialise in one vertical, choosing from retail, telecom, manufacturing and banking and financial services.

J.N. Amrolia, one of the trustees of the CBS Trust, says that an USP of the courses will be the close interaction with personnel from industry. Given the background of the five trustees, who have long years of experience across various industries, the learning at CSBE will definitely be ‘real-world’, says Amrolia.

There will be a judicious combination of classroom sessions and field-work/projects to ensure that the learning is not just academic but focused on providing solutions to business problems.

With CSBE being established, the CBS group would have addressed the needs of all segments of the market for management education, he adds. Those with work experience or those who prefer a fast-track management course would be able to pursue a PGPM at Chennai Business School in the city. Those students who wish to pursue a career in research and teaching or who wish to do a traditional two-year MBA would be able to pursue a PGDM at CSBE in Sri City. The two-year course will cost Rs 3 lakh a year while its one-year course will cost Rs 5.5 lakh.

The other trustees of CBS are Pradipta Mohapatra, K. Krishnan, Mohan Menon and N. Sathasivam.
