I was wondering if they were going to do that whole section at once. Nice!

From http://www.lowermanhattan.info/news/...o_a_46708.aspx
Looking Ahead to a New Year of WTC Milestones Visible milestones marked steady progress at the World Trade Center (WTC) site in 2012. Over the past year, both 1 WTC and 4 WTC topped out at 105 and 72 stories, respectively; the Vehicular Security Center (VSC) was structurally completed; and the WTC Transportation Hub took shape at grade with its iconic cast-steel ribs supporting its substructure. Updates on each of the WTC projects were presented by Port Authority Assistant Director of WTC Construction Quentin Brathwaite at Thursday's Community Board 1 Planning Committee meeting. .... At the VSC, structural steel was completed this fall and concrete installation continues. Brathwaite reported that it should be open to vehicles on a limited basis by spring or summer of 2013, via an entrance at West and Liberty Streets. Relocation of the Liberty Street Bridge landing and construction of Liberty Park atop the VSC roof are both being planned with SDOT and Brookfield Properties, which maintains the bridge as part of the World Financial Center. ______________________ I didn't expect that it will be partly accessible so early.

Looking down on the VSC...
I'm really excited to see how it will look like in the end, with Liberty Park and St. Nicholas Church on top.. ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() WTC von speric auf Flickr |

I think they were quite on schedule until Sandy, the flooding certainly caused some delays.
The PATH recently authorized a package for the construction of Liberty Park. Hopefully they also release some new and more detailed renderings soon.. ------------------ From http://www.panynj.gov/corporate-info...ar_20_2013.pdf WORLD TRADE CENTER STREETS, UTILITIES AND RELATED INFRASTRUCTURE PROGRAM – AUTHORIZATION TO AWARD A CONTRACT FOR PHASE III – LIBERTY PARK STRUCTURAL PACKAGE It was recommended that the Board authorize the Executive Director to: (1) award early action construction Contract WTC-324.828.S-01, through construction manager Tishman Construction Corporation (Tishman), to Paul J. Scariano Inc., the lowest qualified bidder pursuant to a publicly advertised/low-bid process, to perform structural work for Liberty Park, as part of Phase III of the World Trade Center Streets, Utilities and Related Infrastructure Program (WTC Streets Program), at an estimated total cost of $11,109,312, inclusive of an eight-percent allowance for extra work; and (2) increase, by a total estimated amount of $2,320,615, the compensation under the existing contract with Downtown Streetscape Partners (DSP), a joint venture of AECOM and Jacobs, Inc., for expert professional architectural and engineering services in connection with the WTC Streets Program. ... Phase III of the WTC Streets Program includes the development of a new 60,000-squarefoot Liberty Park, to be located on the southern portion of the WTC site, above the roof of the WTC VSC. Liberty Park would serve as a public gathering place for workers and the growing number of residents in the surrounding areas. Phase III also includes the construction, furnishing and/or installation of pathways, benches, landscaped areas, lighting, and other furnishings and hardscape elements. The scope of work under the proposed contract includes the furnishing and installation of concrete stairs, structural slabs, footings, walls, curbs, cantilevered beams, drain pipe, Geofoam lightweight fill material, structural steel and miscellaneous iron (to support future landscaped areas) and other finishes. This contract also would provide for waterproofing on behalf of the WTC VSC. |

Project Rebuilding Saint Nicholas Church to complete by 2014
"...During the event, Nicholas Koutsomitis, a prominent Greek-American and Principal of Koutsomitis Architects PC in New York City spoke about the design and construction challenges faced in the replacement of the Saint Nicholas Church at the World Trade Center which could open by 2014..." I'm quite dubious of a late 2014 completion. But anyways, I looked up the architect's website, here's a link to the project. http://www.kapc.com/framesets/stnicholas.htm ![]() Never saw this render before. I like the fictional 5WTC in the background as well. I think I read this design of the church won't be the exact one built, but it gives an idea. I do like the fact that work is at least progressing on their rebuilding.

Will try and ask for final design of Liberty Park, there's been a couple of different arrangements over the PA files that show a different design.

Are these recent? The WTC sphere is non existent in these renders compared to previous ones. If the PA fails to put it anywhere on the site that'll be the biggest disgrace of the entire rebuilding.

Here's the response: the structural package includes a spot where can support the Sphere weight, but it's up to the governor/mayor/PA head guys whether to include it or not.

At least they are thinking ahead to preserve the option.
