Is this route of Jet Airways to Newark discontinue from 28th March onwards ?

Any plan for Jet to re-operate US-bound route?

After the move from Brussels to Amsterdam on March 27 Jet Airways will only serve Toronto in North America.

http://www.jetairways.com/en/in/plan...m-flights.aspx

They won't fly to the US anymore, but with the code share agreements they can use the KLM & Delta Airways hub in Amsterdam to offer connections to far more destinations in the US and Canada then now via Brussels.

I don't think they will come back to the US anytime soon with all the options they will offer via Amsterdam and Abu Dhabi. Unless they want to start non-stop flights when they get their 787-9s.

My take on it since I live in SF: the Pacific leg of the RTW journey may be longer distance-wise, but it saves a lot of fuel and flight time as you are flying with the headwinds rather than against it. It's like you're flying eastbound both ways that you might think of outbound as flying to SFO, inbound to Delhi.

To me, this makes a lot of economic sense as the all eastward flight path makes the journey worthwhile, especially the winds are in your favor all the way through. Although in winter, the wintry howls from the Arctic Ocean can make the journey a bit slower...

Indias great 'plan' clear the cows.

http://m.economictimes.com/industry/...w/56496216.cms

This is not the problem. The problem is that Delhi and Mumbai need a second airport each yesterday and other large hubs probably need one today....and none are being built.

Hub congestion is the key problem...not rural airstrips.

Now this was certainly a very interesting flight!

A possible bid strike leading to a cracked windshield delayed flight SG488 on May 20th 2016 by a whole 8 hours!
Of course, passengers were outraged, blamed SpiceJet for it. SpiceJet were in the wrong for delaying the flight in little increments. However, that doesn't excuse the passengers who verbally threatened the ground staff, conspired against them, etc. This was all after SpiceJet offered passengers to get a full refund and book on other flights...

Read more about it here!

"Manchester-Mumbai is “Skyscanner Unserved Route of the Week”

" ‒ over 725,000 searches; Virgin’s next long-haul from Northwest UK?"

With over 725,000 searches in the last year – that’s over 60,000 searches per month! – a potential city pair from Manchester to Mumbai has been identified as this week’s “Skyscanner-anna.aero Unserved Route of Week” – a powerful analysis based on aspirational data captured from the Skyscanner.net flight comparison site used by +60 million unique visitors per month. “Manchester is Europe’s largest unserved market to/from Mumbai,” states Robert Smith, Head of Aviation Development at Manchester Airport. “In fact the airport is second only to Heathrow in terms of total O&D traffic for UK to India.”

anna.aero suggests Virgin or Jet Airways jump on this route

Skyscanner demand on this week’s unserved route shows a massive bias towards the UK end of the city pair, with a 91/9 split, so on this basis we looked at potential carriers at the Manchester end first. Although no one airline dominates at the airport, most of the biggest carriers are predominantly short-haul operators, according to OAG data for the week commencing 6 April. LCCs Ryanair (16% share of weekly seats) and easyJet (13%) take the top two spots, with Flybe (10%) in third. While the fourth largest carrier at Manchester, Thomas Cook Airlines (6.9%) flies to 29 destinations from the airport, including nine which are long-haul, all of them are to the US, Africa and Caribbean. The story is the similar for Thomson Airways (fifth largest carrier), which has a long-haul network of eight destinations, and indeed one is in Asia (Puhket), but again it should be considered unlikely that the leisure carrier is going to stray into a market like Mumbai.

We have to consider the ninth biggest carrier at the airport, Virgin Atlantic Airways (2.7%), as being the most-likely to consider a Manchester-Mumbai operation at this time from the UK end. The airline currently offers six long-haul destinations from the airport – Orlando, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Barbados and the recently launched services to Boston and San Francisco. On 25 May, the airline will begin also daily flights to New York JFK from Manchester, as it replaces the existing Delta Air Lines service. Virgin Atlantic’s CCO, Shai Weiss, commented: “This summer, we’ll have 26% more seats out of the city than last year, cementing our commitment to Manchester,” so clearly the airline is in expansion mode at the airport. Indeed, Virgin Atlantic has experience in the UK-Mumbai market, operating to the Indian city up until early 2015 from London Heathrow. On this basis, a link to Mumbai would not be out of the question for the airline to consider, especially as there is potential for two-way feed onto its US routes, and now given this overwhelming Skyscanner data."

Air India set to resume Nairobi flights after seven-year absence
Quote:

FRIDAY MAY 12 2017

Air India will relaunch its flights to Kenya after establishing market demand.
India’s national carrier, Air India, is set to resume its flights to Nairobi later this year, seven years after it withdrew from the route.
Air India chairman and managing director Ashwani Lohani said the airline will relaunch its flights to Kenya after establishing market demand.

“To Washington from July 7, Stockholm from August 15 and Los Angeles from September 1 to be followed by Tel Aviv, Dallas and Nairobi sometime later during the year 2017 itself. Air India spreads its wings far and wide,” Mr Lohani said in a Facebook post.
Air India stopped its Mumbai-Nairobi-Dar es Salaam flight in 2010. The airline has lately stepped up its international expansion plans to the US and Europe.
Kenya hosts a sizeable Indian-origin population and has strong trade ties with the Asian nation.

Air India, with a fleet of 140 planes, controls nearly 15 per cent of the Indian domestic market. At 17 per cent, it has the single-largest share of international traffic into and out of India.
