"Engar ke mikhad be hava ampol bezane" exactly

And yes sanctions do have an effect, look at UAE and KSA, their buildings look a thousand times better than ours.

Sorry if i went off topic, i'll stay on-topic from now on.

Beautiful monument. Thanks for posting Cyrus. They should ask members here about the design before constructing it hough, since some find everything ugly.

I think the problem is Iran is an extremely isolated country and most Iranians haven't seen much in their life, so their perception of what is attractive is usually not in tune with the real world. This reflects in everything in Iran, from the architecture, to the way people decorate their homes and even to the makeup and clothes Iranians wear.

But yes, this building is ugly.

@koobideh

the points ur are mention is not really important, how people dress and how they make their houses and so on. even buildings is a matter of individual taste.

that statement by koobideh is correct in a way

iranians alot try to act all "khareji" and cool but because they dont get a real image of the rest of the world their imitations are cheap crappy ones
though this doesnt exist amongst all people, many are normal
but its fairly evident in lower class people and less experienced architects

dress is a bit different but if u see some guys and girls with 5 kg of makeup and hairgel and 84932 accessories hanging from their clothes its a false immitation , though in clothing these ppl make up maybe 5% of the ppl
u can tell from the photo thread from diff cities that we are well dressed and good looking

however our architecture is going down the drain, we dont use proper methods and influence from our own traditional past or make good connections with the outside world
hence, its a cheap disaster

to both Koobideh and SP above. Iran's 30+ years of isolation have created a huge gap with reality.

If it were in a foreign country then you would say "wow, what a great building!"

The problem of us, especially our modern architects, is that we think the best things are the western ones.

For example this building could be beautiful, if we didn't know that it is located at Gorgan:
