what hapen to this malayalam film industry ?? back to back hits in 2012
after second show, beautiful, vellaripravinde changathi, ee adutha kalathu ,ordinary , mayamohini, grandmaster ,22Fk, diomond necklase, mallu sing, spirit and now ustad hotel too ............
And one more think is nidra, manjadikuru ,arike,outsider are some other films which is good but not so succes in box office.......

Now i am waiting for Thattathin marayath, trivandrum lodge, poppins, friday,jawan of vellimala,916, Lavander.........

Today i have watch thattathin marayath, small story but nice narration and have some good memorable moments

On Sunday afternoon, a group of 55 girls left their hostel and travelled to Link Road. Forty girls from another women’s hostel were also making their way to the same destination in Kozhikode.

Both groups stopped at Apsara Theatre and soon melted into the huge crowd that was already there. And such crowds, comprising youngsters mainly, have become a common sight in cinemas showing Malayalam films across the State of late. “After a long time, we are getting consistently good crowds for our shows. I cannot recall so many youngsters coming to see films,” says Jose Joseph, managing partner, Apsara Theatre. “Now more films are being released and more importantly, there are more good films.”

More the merrier

This year, which is only at the half-way mark, has already seen more than 60 films reaching theatres. In the entire 2008, there were only 60 films.

The number of successful films is also rising fast this year. Movies like Mayamohini , Ordinary , Mallu Singh , Second Show , 22 Female Kottayam , Diamond Necklace , Ustad Hotel , Grandmaster , and Spirit have all earned their producers profit. The collections of the first three days suggest Thattatthin Marayathu too could join the list.

“These are good times for Malayalam cinema,” says Vysakh, director of Mallu Singh , which made money despite its huge cost. “And the best thing is that films made with small budgets and no big stars, like 22 Female Kottayam and Thattathin Marayathu , are also succeeding at the box office.”

“The viewer has become demanding and our films have finally begun to meet his expectations,” says actor Mukesh, who is also the producer of Thattathin Marayathu along with Sreenivasan. “And it is great to see a whole crop of new actors and directors making their mark. In 1989, when Saikumar, Innocent, and I acted in Ramji Rao Speaking , nobody expected it to become a blockbuster. Those were the days when superstars and multi-starrers reigned and that film initiated a new trend of small films. I think Malayalam cinema is witnessing a similar change now.”

Director M. Padmakumar says there is a distinct improvement technically too. “Now our audience gets to see the kind of finesse they normally did only in Hindi or Tamil films,” he says. “I feel the advancements in digital technology have helped our films a lot. Another reason why more people are coming to theatres is that now there are a lot more good theatres, with the advent of multiplexes.”


Viewers respond enthusiastically as Malayalam cinema hits a purple patch.
