Post World Expo 2010 - Where are the Chinese investors?
Don't know if there is a thread for this topic or not as I'm quite new here, but thought it was a good talking point.
I want to start a thread to compile a list of any tangible Chinese/Asian investment that has come to the city region as a result of Liverpool's presence at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai. Or any investment as a direct result of this presence for that matter. Liverpool was the only UK city outside of London to have a dedicated presence at the World Expo which ran from May 1 to October 31, and we were told more than 770,000 people visited the Liverpool Pavilion and it was a once-in-a-generation opportunity to forge new relationships in the world’s emerging markets and would deliver up to £50m in benefits to Liverpool and the North West over the next decade. So, let's get the ball rolling...have any new big companies located here yet? Last edited by scouse1980; November 23rd, 2011 at 08:47 PM. Reason: amendment |

Up to now the only investment is in the International Trade Centre as far as I know.

sorry to burst anyone's bubble but to expect news of Chinese investment this early is unrealistic in my view - that's based on a decade plus of working on major international capital investments including with asian companies. The good news is my experience is they tend to be one of looking long term compared to the west but their decision making can seem to take almost as long.
