LOL
http://www.presstv.ir/detail/213760.html I shouldn't be surprised, China's economy will completely crash if the U.S attacks Iran, from what i've heard China is one of Iran's main trade partners, still i never thought they would go this far. |

Iranian Fleet of Warships Enter Mediterranean Sea
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian Navy's 18th fleet of warships passed through the Suez Canal and entered the Mediterranean Sea, an Iranian navy commander confirmed on Saturday. The Iranian Navy dispatched its 18th flotilla of warships to the Gulf of Aden on January 21 to protect the country's cargo ships and oil tankers against the Somali pirates. The Iranian warships docked at the Saudi port city of Jeddah a few days later.
The Navy's 18th flotilla is comprised of Khark warship and Shahid Naqdi destroyer. Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said on Saturday that the warships have made their second ever journey through the Suez Canal following Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution in line with the orders of the Supreme Leader for having a stronger presence in the high seas. He said that the fleet will convey the message of peace and friendship to the region and will demonstrate the Islamic Republic's might. The two Iranian vessels, Khark and Alvand, had crossed the Suez Canal, a strategic international shipping route in Egypt, in February 2011. Khark has 250 crewmembers and can carry three helicopters. http://english.farsnews.com/newstext.php?nn=9010175256 |

Thanks, although many of us here want a democratic secular government that government should be installed by the people, with their priorities as the main goals for the government, not some western puppet.

Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi says the Islamic Republic has set up several projects intended to design and build new advanced stealth and fighter planes. Speaking at the 11th Iranian Aerospace Society Conference in the capital Tehran on Monday, General Vahidi said that Iran enjoys considerable expertise to manufacture various military, fighter and passenger aircraft. He noted that Iran has made great strides in the aviation industry through the design and mass production of its first home-made Saeqeh (Thunderbolt) fighter jet, which has joined Iran's air force fleet. Brigadier General Vahidi highlighted that while a large number of world countries assemble airplanes under the license of a certain country, Islamic Republic of Iran produces domestically developed aircraft. http://www.presstv.ir/detail/227639.html |

Iran has drone engine know-how
Iran has the know-how to build engines used in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), an official said. "We are building turbofan engines for a variety of UAVs," Iranian Armed Forces deputy Brigadier General Abdolkarim Banitarafi said on Friday. The construction of the engines is a significant step in the direction of building indigenous drones, the state-run Press TV quoted Banitarafi as saying. Turbofan is a type of jet engine widely used for aircraft propulsion. Iran has taken 'major steps' towards designing large Turbofan engines, Xinhua reported. http://www.asianage.com/internationa...e-know-how-376 |

Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi announces plans to build new passenger planes, saying Iran will unveil a number of indigenous military and defense achievements next week. “After making several types of military and non-military planes like ‘Saeqeh’ and ‘Iran 140,’ we are reviewing plans for manufacturing small passenger planes,” Vahidi told reporters on Monday. He went on to say that experts have prepared the grounds for starting the project to manufacture planes with the passenger capacity of 50 to 100. “These defense achievements have been designed and produced by committed Iranian experts,” Vahidi explained on the advancements that will be unveiled next weeks. http://www.presstv.ir/detail/228957.html |

Seems Iran is making forward steps in the development of it's millitary capabilities, specifically air defenses. I want a nuclear weapon's free world, But I understand why some in Iran would want a nuclear weapon, as a deterrent. But Iran could even further it's millitary strength, if they stopped funding outside groups like Hezbollah and stopped spending money to pay the Basji to oppress the people. Imagine, all that money going instead to the Iranian millitary.

Iran to Increase Exports of Arms, Military Equipments
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian Defense Ministry plans to increase exports of arms and military equipment to friendly and neighboring countries in the next Iranian year (starts on March 20), a senior Iranian Defense Ministry official announced on Saturday. Speaking to FNA, Iranian Deputy Defense Minister General Majid Bokayee stated that his ministry has initiated massive plans to promote arms exports. "The issue of (arms) exports is one of the fundamental issues considered by the Iranian Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics, and great efforts have been made to increase military exports remarkably in the next year (March 2012-March 2013)," Bokayee underscored. He pointed to the visit to Iran by Lebanese Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn and Iran's pledge to equip the Lebanese Army, and further added, "We will naturally have massive relations with the friendly and neighboring countries regarding arms exports." During a meeting with Ghosn in Tehran in February, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi underlined Tehran's determination to provide all-out support for Lebanon against the foreign countries and terrorists' threats, and also stressed that the Lebanese Army should be reinvigorated to the same end. "Strengthening the Lebanese Army is one of the strategic policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Lebanon should have a powerful Army to defend its interests in the region," Vahidi reiterated. In July 2010, a senior Iranian military expert said that the country is exporting arms and military equipment to 40 world states at present. http://english.farsnews.com/newstext.php?nn=9012151809 |

Boy, I sort of stumbled onto this thread..........I am not sure what the point of it is unless there are real techno-weapons geeks who are simply interested in engineering aspects or is this a pissing contest to see who has the biggest stick? After reading the some of the posts it is truly sad that this kind of rhetoric never seems to change from one generation to the next. That no one seems to learn anything from past experiences. Finger pointing, national security claims, cultural ignorance, lack of willingness to embrace differences, institutionalized religion using its beliefs as a cover to justify just about anything......discouraging. The short speech by one of the producers of an Iranian movie which won an Academy Award this year summed it up pretty well when he said it is just a handful of politicians with their own narrow vision of the world and not the people who make up the societies that lead us into these conflicts. I can only only hope that as technology continues to "shrink" the world we can be less fearful and suspicious. Somehow though maybe we just have not evolved enough as species yet to resist a primal behavior that seems to demand a violent response to generate some sort of short lived sense of satisfaction......that revenge somehow solves somethings.............like watching a gorilla pound its chest in a victory stance. Sorry for the soap box ..........

Iran self-sufficient in manufacturing naval equipment: Navy Cmdr.
Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari says the Islamic Republic has reached self-sufficiency in manufacturing naval equipment. "We are now entirely capable of manufacturing naval equipment inside the country," utilizing the skills and capabilities of Iranian experts, IRNA quoted Sayyari as saying on Tuesday. He noted that Iran is no longer in need of assistance from other states in the production of any naval apparatus due to the potentials of its young scientists and experts. Sayyari also announced last month that the Islamic Republic has acquired the know-how to manufacture aircraft carriers. The Navy commander argued that Iran's defense doctrine differs from that of the colonialists and is contrary to the expansionist policies of the hegemonic powers, adding the Islamic Republic's defense strategies are aimed at serving its national interests. Iran has started a self-sufficiency campaign in the defense industry and has launched numerous military projects since the victory of the Islamic Revolution over 30 years ago. The Iranian Navy launched its first domestically-manufactured destroyer, Jamaran, in the waters of the Persian Gulf in February 2010. The 1,420-ton destroyer is equipped with modern radars and other electronic warfare capabilities. The country also unveiled its new submarine, named Ghadir, in 2007. It's incredible the amount of technology that Iran has acquired, despite a military and commercial embargo that the west is trying to impose on Iran.
