Seri Iskandar : Perak's new Pride and Happiness
Hi, I've posted some pics on the Ipoh: The Forgotten City. But since Seri Iskandar is some 30km from Ipoh city, it is more appropriate if another thread created. Photos here can also be seen at Ipoh thread, but newer photos will be displayed here. Hope this thread will receive visitors soon
![]() ![]() From Lumut heading towards to Seri Iskandar ![]() Few rows of shop. This commercial area is actually some 5km from the "so-Called" town centre. The government premises, as well as living quarters are located here. Schools, Mosque, Local Council and Land and District Office can be found here. ![]() The original row of shophuses, built in 1990's. Also being callled as Taman Maju. Indeed, it is very "maju" now ![]() You are now entering Seri Iskandar. Right at the end of UiTM Junction ![]() Ditto, eastward view ![]() Taman Teknologi Seri Iskandar, referred as bandar SIDEC by locals: ![]() ![]() ![]()

It is good for Sri Iskandar to have it own thread since there are many projects being carried out in this new town.

Tesco Seri Iskandar is finally opened for business. It is small by the way. But better than nothing rite? ![]() ![]() The road leading to Bandar University(where the Tesco situated) has been beautified. Nice I must say. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thanks for the pics....... By the way, we can see a tower crane on the right side of the photo. Could that be the Iskandar Mall? I didn't have a chance to go deep to that place. Can't see the tower crane from the main Ipoh-Lumut road either. I bet that is the first tower crane ever set a foot on Perak Tengah District

Moreover, the dual carriageway only starts from Siputeh, and end somewhere before Sitiawan/Sri Manjung. The whole of Ipoh Lumut Stretch is designated as Federal Route 5, till sitiawan until it becomes Federal Route 100 for Sitiawan bypass. The dual carriageway part only cover some 60km from the total 80km (Approximate figure) Originally, they are plan to build proper ipoh lumut expressway, but 1990's economic crisis or maybe some other factor has made the plan halted indefinitely. But the route designation of E19 for ipoh-lumut expressway is mistakenly added to the Ipoh-Lumut Federal Route 5, which is untrue. So is the Ipoh Lumut road is a highway? Ordinary trunk road YES, but expressway..........................NOPE ![]() And definitely no toll at all. The only "toll" that can be considered is your time. There are 38 sets of traffic light from Jelapang (Ipoh) to Lumut

what about the west coast expressway from banting to taiping, it should follow federal route 5 right up untill lumut..since ipoh to lumut ae already four lane, dual-carriageway so does the portion from bagan datuk to banting..
would WCE is *just* an upgrade to FT5 with toll like the cheras kajang expressway.or another set of expressway parallel to FT5

For the WCE, as far as we know, that is a totally new expressway to be built on a new alignment. I don't think it is possible to have the existing Federal Route 5 to be upgraded to become a fully-fledge expressway, as the population along this road is pretty heavy. Access and to and from the expressway must be limited to allow safe high speed drive. And as for the Grand Saga's Cheras Kajang expressway, the existence of the secondary parallel road (although not proper) has made the upgrading of that highway possible. The same goes to Damansara Puchong Expressway, but the speed limit is horribly slow.
