I do. That is why my wife and I, stay away from fast food joints. I am also aware about the impact of nothing to eat at all. And even if you buy fresh produce if you don't even have a place to live, what good is it if there is any, in buying fresh produce.

What happens if you only eat fast food, then? Of course I know it's quite bad for your health, but I would like to hear Metro007's answer to his own question.

Pretty much everywhere has McDonald's etc anyway so I don't think that's really a unique feature that only the US poor can use if they can't afford anything else.

If you are really that poor It's probably cheaper and certainly healthier to buy some fresh vegetables and cook for yourself anyway.
Of course not, but how do u know McDonalds is cheaper in a poor country??? I doubt it. And McDonalds is not the only option, you can get two tacos for 99c in California.

Odd... In Canada it is quite different. The western cities have both the higher crime rates and the poorest public transit.

It's easier to generalize Canada than the us because Canada is so small.

The prior statement wasn't fully true, Virginia beach, NYC, Raleigh, and plenty of other cities are safe! Also, Seattle and Portland are both safe with great public transportation.

There is an experiment who has been made: a weathy man in the 30s had to eat during 3 months or something like this every day from Mc Donalds. After a month or so they had to abort this experiment since it becames dangerous: the man becames very depressive and feeled very bad. But you can surely find this experiment on google. It was a scientific experiment with doctors making measures etc.

In the US, there is McDo and other fast foods. Although not that great and healthy foods, at least you have some affordable foods to eat.
I believe your idea of fastfood even in those burger joints are so 20th century. Fast food restaurants now offer more healthier options aside from the usual burgers and in Vegas, we have so many affordable restaurants serving decent food and they are not burger joints.

Vegas? no thanks. Not the kind of place I like to visit. Would rather travel to Europe and South America.

Agree. There are now fast food chains that serves healthier foods. Even in Vancouver, B.C.

And Vancouver, B.C. has a great transit system as well. But there is still need of improvement.

McDonald's usually is cheaper in poorer countries, but then they also tend to have street food options which are cheaper still and often better.

But I'm just saying that among developed countries the US isn't unique in having cheap junk food. In any rich country relatively poor are going to have eating options, they're not going to starve.

Are you sure about the "better" part? Just speaking from experience I have seen street food in developing countries but I would rather eat Mcdonalds food over those street food. At least in the US, sanitation code is of very high standards. Street food, you get flies, spit, dust, garbage, auto exhaust... aside from your food. Just saying!!!

No, I'd say fresh veggies, cooked in front of you is a higher standards than the heavily processed unhealthy crap at McDonald's.

I absolutely agree with you on this one . What is better way to a healthier food than having it prepared at your own kitchen. Unlike Mc Do or any other fast food that not only cause consumer to become obese but acquire other health problem. Look at the thousands if not millions who are obese. in the US
