New building in town
A new five-storey mall being built in downtown Macau by the Emperor Group will be completed in 2013, the company has announced.
“In Macau, the building plan for the redevelopment of a premium city-centre property (…) with a total floor area of 30,000 square feet has been approved in the 6 months ended 30 September 2011,” said the Emperor International Holdings Limited, a subsidiary of the group.
“Its demolition work has commenced (…) It will be built into a large shopping complex at prime location for long-term rental. This project is targeted to be completed in 2013,” it disclosed in a filing with the Hong Kong stock exchange on Monday.
The property, made of three adjoining plots on the corner between Avenida da Praia Grande and Avenida do Infante D. Henrique, used to house three buildings of three storeys, which once housed 10 shops on the ground floor and residential units on the upper floors.
Fai Iek, Limited bought the plot from David Chow Kam Fai’s Landmark in December 2007, paying a total of HKD 430 million.
Fai Iek is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Emperor Group, a Hong Kong-based conglomerate, founded by Albert Yeung Sau Shing, which also runs the nearby Grand Emperor Macau hotel-casino.
