G7212 Liubei Expressway, China

20 April 2015

A new segment of the G7212 Liubei Expressway (Liuzhou - Beihai Expressway) opened to traffic in Guangxi. It runs from S40 Wugui Expressway near Guiping to G80 south of Guigang. It opened at the same time as S40, the combined length is 201 km, the length of G7212 in question is circa 52 kilometers.

The G7212 is formed out of provincial expressway S31 which used to be advertised as the Sanbei Expressway (Sanjiang - Beihai Expressway) which spans the entire length of Guangxi. I'm not sure if this is still current or if G7212 will begin in Liuzhou as opposed to the Hunan border near Sanjiang.

A-66, Spain

12 May 2015

The final 49 kilometer missing link of A-66 opens to traffic in Spain. It runs from Benavente to Zamora and completes the 800 kilometer motorway from the Asturian coast to Seville. The construction cost was € 179 million or € 3.6 million per kilometer.

It is also one of the larger motorway openings in Spain in recent years, as it was built under a 30 year concession with shadow tolls.

Surabaya - Gempol Toll Road, Indonesia

18 May 2015

The southern extension of the Surabaya - Gempol Toll Road in Indonesia officially began operations today, though it is reported it already went into toll-free trial service a week earlier.

It runs from Kejapanan to Pandaan with a length of 15 kilometers. It is located south of the Sidoarjo mud flow that buried the original Surabaya - Gempol Toll Road. The Sidoarjo mud flow bypass only has its service roads completed, which means there are now two sections of non-continuous expressway.
