S8 Poland

17 July 2015

Raszyn bypass (S8) opened ten minutes ago. This road is located in the south-western part of Warsaw agglomeration. Opened section starts at S2 (southern bypass of Warsaw) and finishes in Wolica village at old national road "8" being upgraded to freeway standard.

S8, Poland

Section Opacz - Janki, better known as Raszyn bypass or Trasa Salomea - Wolica (6,3 km of 2x3 motorway) just opened to traffic.
It is a motorway entrance to Warsaw from south-west.
Construction took 15 months.

Kyoto - Jukan Expressway, Japan

18 July 2015

The 19 kilometer long missing link of the Kyoto - Jukan Expressway opened to traffic in Japan. It runs from Tanba to Kyo-Tanba. It includes some tunnels and bridges.

US 101, California, USA

July 17, 2015

A new interchange opened along US 101 in northern Monterey County, California. It is a new interchange with San Juan Road, and replaces three intersections. This effectively turned this part of US 101 into a freeway for about 2 miles (3 km).

Muntinlupa - Cavite Expressway, Philippines

21 July 2015

The Muntinlupa - Cavite Expressway (MCX) opened to traffic today in suburban Manila. It is a 4 kilometer link expressway between Daang Hari Road and the South Luzon Expressway in the southern suburb of Muntinlupa. The travel time is cut by 45 minutes. The formal opening is on 24 July.

S69, Poland

9,6 km of S69 motorway (2x2) opens today between Rybarzowice and Żywiec in southern Poland, completing the motorway connection Cieszyn - Bielsko-Biała - Żywiec.
S69 will become a part of E75 corridor after completion of the remaining sections of expressways: S69 in PL and D3 in SK.

D177, France

22 July 2015

A short section of Route Départmentale 177 has been widened to a four lane voie express around the village of Guignen. D177 (former N177) is a main road from Rennes to Redon. The widened section is approximately 2 kilometers long, the cost was only € 3.15 million.

Other nearby stretches of D177 are also being reconstructed to voie express, like the Lohéac bypass and a new alignment between Guignen and Lohéac.

A-15, Spain

The A-2 / A-15 interchange near Medinaceli opened to traffic today. It includes about 1.5 km of new A-15. This means the last provincial capital (Soria) is now fully connected to the Spanish motorway network.

M60, Hungary

Section Keszü-Pécs of M60 was opened today for traffic. This 1,8 km road makes bypassing the innercity of Pécs possible.

The 10.5 km section of A12 between Mignone river and Tarquinia nord is open since yesterday, albeit with a temporary configuration and 60 kph speed limit.

G18 Rongwu Expressway, China

24 July 2015

A 36 kilometer segment of G18 Rongwu Expressway opened to traffic in China, between Laiyuan in Hebei province and Lingqiu in Shanxi province. The new expressway contains 2 tunnels of approximately 4-5 km length. The Shanxi part was already completed for several years (likely since 2012) but couldn't open until the Hebei part was completed, as there is no intermediate interchange. 17 km is in Hebei and 19 km in Shanxi.

Tauranga Eastern Link, New Zealand

3 August 2015

The 23 kilometer long Tauranga Eastern Link (TEL) opened to traffic today. It was inaugurated on 31 July. It is a new four-lane toll road from Tauranga to past Te Puke. The project is completed one year ahead of schedule. The cost was NZ$ 455 million ($ 300 million, € 275 million).

US 62/82 + Spur 327, Lubbock, USA

The main lanes of the US 62/82 Marsha Sharp Freeway and Spur 327 freeway open to traffic today in southwestern Lubbock, Texas. Together they constitute about 3 miles of new freeway with frontage roads.

G4012 Lining Expressway, China

13 August 2015

A 54 kilometer segment of the G4012 Lining Expressway (Liyang - Ningde Expressway) opened to traffic in northern Fujian province. It runs from Shouning (near the Zhejiang border) to G1514 near the city of Fu'an. According to Google Earth imagery it contains two tunnels with a length of approximately 5 kilometers.

G1502 Quanzhou Ring Expressway, China

12 May 2015

A little late, but notable, the last 27 kilometer segment of the G1502 Quanzhou Ring Expressway opened to traffic in Fujian province. It contains a 15.8 km long bridge across the Quanzhou Bay with an eight-lane cable-stayed bridge.

A1 Princes Highway, Australia

20 August 2015

A 7.5 kilometer section of dual carriageway with interchanges opened to traffic in New South Wales. It is the Gerringong Bypass and runs south from Mount Pleasant to Toolijooa Road. The project cost was $ 340 million (€ 223 million) which sounds rather expensive for a fairly straightforward project.
