MISC | Guided Busways

We haven't had a thread on guided busways. There are not many in the world. But any photos or videos then upload them here.

Why not just install a light rail or metro? The infrastructure does not seem that different.

The longer East-Side stretch of the planned BRT system was actually upgraded into a 24km monorail line now already under construction - called the Line 2 Monorail, you can see many construction updates in the Sao Paulo thread (link in my signature).

I can only assume the difference must lie in the fact that the bus is able to leave its tracks and meander into the city where necessary. Installation costs are probably lower too.

If i recall it right, there were some plans to build more BRT in Sao Paolo.

The Phileas in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
Guided by a pre-programmed route which is verified through the use of magnets in the road.

Anyone have any pictures of the upcomming Metronit BRT in Haifa? Or does it not run on a guided track?

Aha! I thought it was embedded beacons that validate the busway category, Silly Walks ... confusing, seeing all those examples of installed hardware, preceding your own one. Anyhow, how's that fleet functioning nowadays, that model of bus is so! 1920s-looking?

I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.
Are you sure you are responding to the right post?

I doubt that costs are lower if you consider maintenance costs.

The bus can indeed leave the track however. I am not sure what the benefit is however over a BRT system. To the contrary, all guided or tracked bus systems that rely on regular road pavement have to fight with rapid deterioration of the pavement because the buses always drive in the very same track with no deviation.
