Euro 2012 Group Draw
Pot 1: Spain, Netherlands, Poland, Ukraine Pot 2: Germany, Italy, England, Russia Pot 3: Croatia, Greece, Portugal, Sweden Pot 4: Republic of Ireland, Denmark, France, Czech Republic Poland plz! Draw takes place at 5:30pm today. Live on RTE from 5pm though one suspects we will have the usual boring ritual before hand over ages of talk. This is going to be a great tournament. Apart from Poland and Ukraine all of Europe's top 14 teams are there. Last edited by odlum833; December 2nd, 2011 at 06:54 AM. |

Spain, England, Portugal, France
![]() Although it could be Spain, Germany, Portugal, Ireland ![]() We have never failed to get out of a group in a tournament...but we would struggle there. We don't want that. Last edited by odlum833; December 2nd, 2011 at 02:29 PM. |

England are drawn against Ukraine, Sweden and France in Group D while Republic of Ireland get Spain, Italy and Croatia in the Euro 2012 draw in Kiev.
Good luck.

That's a very tough group. We played Croatia recently and it ended in a 0 - 0 draw. Beat Italy 2 - 0 during the summer. Gonna be very difficult but we can progress from that group.

I hope Ireland surprises and makes it out of the group.
What are the thoughts of the Irish people? Are people excited that the team made the tournament? Will a good number of fans make the trip? Will pubs be crowded watching the matches? |

It's really great Ireland being there actually, like England you have no chance of winning this but unlike England, you know it.You've got a couple of great showpiece games there with teams that will bring a big support with them,it promises to be a great tournament for you or at the very least,a good piss up,Slainte Mhath.

Main Polish newspaper published article in which they say that Irish team will probably have the base in Poland, in Lodz.
http://www.sport.pl/sport-lodz/1,117...012_.html?bo=1 You can copy that and put into google translate. Lodz is situated in central part of Poland. It is good solution for all of you who want to come here for Euro2012 competition. It's easy to get to Lodz by plane using one of direct flight connections with UK and Ireland (Dublin, London Stansted, London Luton, Liverpool, East Midlands) and also with Scotland (Edinburgh). In the days of matches it's easy to get to Poznan and Gdansk by trains, buses and cars. |

Thanks for that! I have also heard Lodz is a preferred location. I am not sure a decision has been made just yet though. But it sounds like a good base with good facilities and considering the group and where the matches will be played.

I will be going to the euros to wacth the boys play and to wacth three great macthes.
I will cry if we make it out of the group. Tears of joy for making it out of the group and tears of sorrow for the amount of money I will have to pay to stay there for the next round

http://www.trojmiasto.pl/wiadomosci/...ie-n53687.html This article says Trapattoni visited Tricity yesterday to look at the PGE Arena Gdansk as well as take a closer look at hotels in Gdynia and Sopot, where the Irish team might stay in June. Today he has left for Poznan to look at how things are there

I am tempted to travel myself but I don't think finances will allow it. Pity we aren't playing in Krakow because I know loads of people there.......Actually, I do know a girl from Gdansk, she told me her parents apartment is 10mins from the Stadium and she can see it from her bedroom window ))).....I would try to start dating her now but the ulterior motive would probably be waaay tooo obvious:P

Hey Am I correct in thinking that Gdansk, Gdynia and Sopot are all basically one Metro area? I've previously looked at Gdynia threads on Skyscrapercity....looks nice Is there much excitment over there about the Euros?

Here are some link to threads about the Stadia Ireland will be using:
http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=552658 http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=686374 They look pretty darn good. I particularly like the Poznan stadium, the steepness of the stands will turn it into a cauldron of athmosphere! For those interested...here is a link to a thread about general Stadium development in Poland. Aparently for several years there have had a boom in new Stadium/Arena construction. Some of the smaller stadia look quality...might be of interest to the Airtricity league! http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=490916 Hopefully we get some support from the Polish due to the links between the two countries

I think there is excitement about Euro2012 here, because we are waiting for it since April 2007, and now it's only half year left. We never had such tournament in Poland. Pity that only half of Euro 2012 will be in Poland. |
